Tuesday's Theme: MIRROR

Our theme this week is MIRROR. Come share your thoughts!
You can write a story, drabble, headcanon, meta, do art, make a video, gif set, poem, fic rec, song rec — whatever creative way you can think of to connect Stony to the prompt is welcome. Have fun!
If anyone has suggestions for future prompts, feel free to leave them in this post!
Ficlet: Shining in His Eyes (Marvel 616, Teen, 400 words)
He'd pass a window, and have to force himself not to glance to the other way, to see who that hulking fellow was, and if he was a danger.
The costume helped. Wearing it, he was Captain America—as much of an amazing and ludicrous concept as that was—not Steve Rogers, brawny or thin. He could catch his reflection and grin at it, because wasn't life something?
But Steve was something else.
*
Tony had gone through a period where he'd stopped looking in mirrors. Between what he'd done, and the metal wrapped around his chest, he found even looking long enough for personal grooming a challenge. He'd see himself and freeze in horror.
When he realised what was happening, he made himself look. Tony Stark was many things, but he wasn't a coward, and he would face what he was head on the first thing he did every morning, last thing at night.
Girls laughed and called him vain, making fun of his time in the bathroom, but Tony needed to remember.
*
After he woke, Steve found it easier to be Captain America than Steve Rogers. Cap was easy: he had a persona, a mission, a team. Thinking about what Steve was going to do when he should be watching his grandchildren have children stymied him.
Stark called him "Steve," and Iron Man "Wing-head," but mostly he was "Cap," in uniform or out.
Only, sometimes, he'd be talking to Iron Man, trying to imagine what lay under the armour, and he'd catch a fragment of his reflection in the faceplate—see himself as Shell-head saw him—and he'd feel like Steve again.
*
In one sweep, Molecule Man took Tony's suit, his secret identity, and maybe his team. Now everyone would look at him, no matter if he got his armour back, and see not Iron Man, but Tony Stark.
Cap immediately tried to bench him, saying that he and the Silver Surfer were better equipped to handle a fight.
"You think Iron Man is just a suit of armour?" Tony demanded, heart breaking, then said he and Don were coming no matter what.
"I should have known better," Steve said, and in that moment, Tony saw Iron Man reflected in his eyes.

Fic rec!

Author: captainshellhead, vibraniumstark
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 6319
Universe: Marvel 616
Relationship(s): Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Warnings: None
Author summary: Tony inherits what appears to be the entire mildewed contents of his late great aunt’s attic, and Jan and Steve volunteer to help him sort through the boxes. Some of the objects they find are... slightly more interesting than others.
Comment: I looked back on my comments on this and all I mostly talked about how pure Steve and Tony are in this fic, so uh, I guess that's not entirely helpful. But it's a great read! A little spooky, the perfect amount of suspense, and some good good Steve and Tony feelings.

While it was true Tony could see someone with him in the mirror, he could never get a good look, the image always slipped away when he focused on it, leaving behind a slight chill to the air. Everything he ever heard about soulmates told him that wasn’t normal. He was pretty sure his soulmate wasn’t supposed to be that big either, Tony was only eight after all. His soulmate should be a kid like him.
Tony knew what happened to kids that weren’t normal. So, he put it aside, made sure to only look at mirrors straight on, and didn’t think about it (mostly) for about thirty years.
--------------
Steve never saw anyone in the mirror with him. He wasn’t surprised, most people didn’t. Still, he thought of the possibility wistfully, trying to picture his perfect match, his soulmate. Nothing came of it of course. It was probably better that way, between his wallet and his health he wasn’t exactly a catch. But what he got up to in the privacy of his own head never hurt anyone, right?
On the battlefield not having a soulmate almost seemed like a blessing. He could have easily never made it back from some of those missions, there were several occasions he almost didn’t. It was rough just knowing he might never get a chance to tell Peggy how he really felt, never mind missing out on a future with his soulmate.
Then there was the mission he didn’t come back from, not for 70 years at least. Stepping out into that strange and oversaturated future, he’d never been more glad he didn’t have a soulmate. Then he caught sight of it, as a SHIELD agent ushered him into one of their black cars. In the mirror on the car door, there was a glint of red and gold beside Steve.
