This is great on so many levels -- the correct use of 'wyr' for a very large starting point, -- I can hardly begin to count.

But I do want to point this out in as many words; if you filed the serial numbers off this, I would absolutely buy the novel of which this is the first couple of chapters. I'm jus' sayin...
