By 'modern' we're referring to the modern era of comic books (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Age_of_Comic_Books), which is anything that was written from about 1985-ish up to the present day. So, the prompt is to write something that's set in the 616 universe, as it existed at some point in the last thirty years... which might not be considered really modern, but comics has a long history :P
