Avengers Assemble Season 3 came to a dramatic conclusion spoilers , leaving Tony trapped in another dimension. In the face of separation, Steve and Tony reached for each other through a force field, both confessing that they are better off having the other in their lives and as a friend. So many feelings.
In the comics world, The Oath also left us all reeling and melting in a pile of even more feelings. The image of Steve sitting by a comatose Tony’s side, admitting that he (the Steve that Tony thought he’d known) had always loved him and admired him was definitely a powerful one, and was an interesting reversal of their positions in The Confession after Civil War 1 where Tony was the one sitting at Steve’s side after his ‘death.’ All in all, there were a lot of emotions to deal with. It’s definitely worth reading if you haven’t already.
In other comics news, Secret Empire is coming up this spring, “the moment has arrived for Steve Rogers to step into the light and declare his allegiance to Hydra! How can the heroes of the Marvel Universe cope with this shattering betrayal by the most trusted figure among them? And what will this mean for the world?” And, is it possible that Tony might be back fighting in an old Iron Man suit?
Also upcoming, Captain America: Steve Rogers #17, tying in with Secret Empire, and while currently Tony is comatose, he’s definitely still present as an AI in Invincible Iron Man.
