Timezone: Japan Standard
What's in your journal: Um, just the one post, but I hope to post about fandom-y things. I'm using it primarily for Steve/Tony, so probably majority meta and Marvel fandom stuff with spattering of RL.
What rating is your journal: Let's say it'll be M?
Interests/Hobbies outside of fandom: Reading, especially SF/F. I'm currently living abroad in Japan (I'm from the US), so stuff about that/languages and also traveling. Video games and anime, too.
Do you have a DW/LJ friending policy? Not really! I'll probably be locking most of my posts, though, especially if there's personal stuff.
What you do in fandom (read/write/art/squee etc): I write fic. I read fic. I cry a lot, especially over Steve. I like to mod things! Encourage all the Steve/Tony fanwork, whether through comments or squeeing together or running events!
How long you've been in the Marvel fandom: Since the first Avengers movie! After a black hole of a summer reading everything S/T I could get my hands on, a new volume of Avengers started at the end of the year. That volume was v5, better known as Hickmanvengers, then my life was over.
Favorite Steve/Tony moment: I swear, I pick a different moment every time I'm asked this question! Can I sort it by universe? For 616, there are WAY, WAY, WAY TOO MANY, but right now I'm going to go with their conversation with Cap #401. AKA Tony goes to a bar (a bar!) just to talk with Steve, and I'll just quote him here: “in this crazy business we're in, there's no one I'd miss more tan you.” Also, I'm going to mention the safewords comment because it makes me want to punch something everytime. For MCU, I adore the CACW scene where Tony tries to get Steve to sign the Accords. For AA, ugh, it'll have to be the Window of Love...or when Steve snarks about coal-powered coffee makers!
Favorite Steve/Tony universe: 616 is what I lost my heart and soul to, but I also adore Avengers Assemble. I'm currently obsessing over everything Ults due to writing it for my RBB. Cry with me about Ults Steve. I also really like the smaller spin-off verses, such as 1872, Noir, and Bullet Points. Oh, and I can't forget AvAc! Basically, I like everything! I ship them across the multiverse, and oh yeah, I adore the multiverse. I will eagerly spout all my feelings on all the verses and what makes them different and similar and it's my favorite type of meta to read in this fandom.
Rec a Fanwork: I don't think anyone's recced gif/edits, yet! They're what got me into this fandom, because here was my tumblr dash getting taken over with these two, and I had to go check them out...Anyway, here are a few from back then!
the gif that got me into this fandom
They're so domesticcccc
imagine getting that on your phone
25 Lives with Steve/Tony
Also, WIPE is what got me from only reading MCU fic to tentatively trying out 616 and wanting to know everything about the verse, so I credit it with a lot :)
Other fandoms/ships you’re into: My interest in Marvel is mostly in Steve/Tony. I have a fondness for Spideytorch (by that I mean anything Traincat has ever written), and Peter Quill/Richard Rider. (I really like DnA-era Cosmic Marvel!)
I really like Love Live! and Fire Emblem! Not so much in a ficcing sense, but I talk about the mobile games since I regularly play them.
Exciting fandom plans/What are you working on next? My RBB with kelslk is supposed to post next week! Then I'm immediately switching gears to writing a fic for the AA S4 Countdown! Then more AA fic for STH! I don't know about after that, haha. Maybe it'd be time for a fandom break, then. (Probably not.)
Anything else you'd like to share (gif, pic, squee?):
Have you all seen the journal article about Steve/Tony fandom? And despite the issues with the foundation, I've always found this breast cancer awareness ad with Tony and Steve really sweet and...super shippy?

Why is there a favourite moment question, that is so hard, who thought of that? I think that one is not on me XD
*saves the journal article for post-finals reading spree*
no subject
Does that mean you're blaming navaan for this one? :P
I don't think I've ever read the whole article through because it's like "I already know all this" but a lot of it is about the multiverse/multi-media element of the ship and how that enriches their narrative and helps make them larger than life. Which I think is pretty fitting for superheroes :)

*waves* Hi, friend,I hope this is the kick you need to come to the DW side and be active, harhar. For altruistic reasons, of course.
Don't take a fandom break. The last time I tried that I had 10 more projects going all at once. It doesn't work out, I swear!

I still think the majority of my meaningful comments can be kept to 140 characters and less, hehe. Chatting is really my preferred way to interact with fandom, and besides straight up chat programs, twitter kind of encapsulates that! But I do really enjoy reading other people's journals!
I successfully took a fandom break last year after RBB! It was great! And then HE happened and dragged me back into writing actively again >_>

Yeah, 25 Lives gets me with pretty much any pairing, but it REALLY hurts for Steve/Tony, what with the multiverse. And also Tony being the perfect person for the POV character ;_; ;_; ;_; he'll love you back, Tony! I promise!

I have the journal article you linked loaded in another tab. Laughing forever that this is from someone at Texas A&M, I bet that went down like a sack of bricks in a river.
Adding!

I added you back!

Now two people have mentionned Bullet Points, I think I will have to investigate...

Fanfic really got me into Ults more than anything. I thought the comics themselves were weirdly aggro, but fic writers are making it work! Ults Tony is pretty tragic, but damn Steve! I really liked that moment with Bucky when they hug it out. I also liked the 2014 Man Out of Time run; or rather I liked Tony taking Steve to his party plane. I'm still crying about 1872 - Steve's death scene, wtf marvel why?
no subject
Yeah, it kills me how Ults Steve really CAN break down. ;_; amd Man Out of Time is a great mini!
1872 Steve's death scene? I have no idea what you're talking about??? ///how I deal with it.
no subject
hahah omg that safewords comment. kills me so much.
also 25 Lives ;_____; /curls up into a ball
THAT JOURNAL ARTICLE. OH MY GOD. Wow. Now I have an intense desire to publish something related to fandom hahaha.

The best/worst part of the safewords is that it doesn't make any more sense in context (I FOUND THE COMIC JUST TO READ IT TO GET THE CONTEXT), so it's just the epitome of "No Heterosexual Explanation."
Hahaha sometimes I have to scroll by 25 Lives really fast because I knooow it'll make me cry!
I WOULD TOTALLY BECOME A STEVE/TONY SCHOLAR :D

I see (and bookmarked) your TWG article, but it reminded me of this older one I ran across in the fall called, I kid you not, "The Transformative Power of Hot, Gay Sex," and it's actually a really interesting early look at online fandom and practices.

And wow, I was never into Smallville fandom but this article is delightful! I've read some stuff on fandom and how it queers spaces, and it's always fun times :) thanks for the link!

THE WIPE SERIES IS SO GOOD. It was one of the first 616 fics I read, and I remember having to Google so many characters and events, but it was interesting! I wasn't overwhelmed, and I was able to follow along easily AND be emotionally impacted by everything. If tsukinofaerii ever wrote another Steve/Tony fic, I'd scream, but I know they're dealing with writer's block in general and haven't written in a long time.
Thanks for that journal article link! I haven't read it before. I need to get to bed, but the little I read so far was fun to read!

Me: ??? Who the heck are the Avengers? I'm good but thanks.
But yeah, I had no exposure to Marvel (besides the old X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons) until I saw the first Cap movie in 2011 :)
That first rush of S/T was very strange - I remember reading Ults fics and wondering why Tony had a twin brother sometimes, and why Tony had cancer sometimes, and how come Natasha was an awful traitor sometimes? Was this a foretelling of her MCU storyline? I look back on those times with fondness, hehe.
I skimmed most of the article b/c I'm familiar enough with S/T fandom that I don't need to have it spelled out, but I like how they talk about how the multi-media nature of the ship along with the multiverse canonizes their characters/relationship to each other and cements it as one of the most important relationships in te verse. I wonder if the person who wrote that is still around in fandom, I think we'd have similar FEELS about the multiverse :D

SpideyTorch is so rare. I'm a bit more into SpideyDevil but I multiship (I'm kinda cold on SpideyPool though I used to be totally into it back then). DD stealing Felicia from Peter was the funniest thing tho 😂.
And you're in JP! Have you seen the exclusive Spider-Man Homecoming merch you guys are getting 😄? Like on the Hottoys and ToySapiens website?
no subject
SpideyTorch is on the smaller side, but most of the fic is really good! It's always great for a pick-me-up, they're usually very cheerful :)
I have not seen the exclusive merch! The merchandising is the single pro of living here re: movies, although I don't think it makes up for getting everything months late :(
