I LOVE ULTS THE MOST. From the very first issue, really, the atmosphere is right up my alley. And Ult Tony is sooo sad. He is so kind at heart and cares about everyone so much and no one cares back about him D: D: D:

I read it because I heard that it was shorter than 616 to get into :P Then I marathoned like everything that was published at the time.

My fave Tony moment is probably the moment of being a total BAMF after he died and brought himself back to life with the Infinity Gems and saved the day. I love him so so much.

First off, I got into Ultimates because of fic, sineala wrote one of my favorite ones, Love Across the Multiverse. There were a whole bunch of other really great ones, but that is what I think of first. Eventually I got around to reading some of the comics.

My favorite canon Steve moment has to be the whole "do you think this A stands for France!?" thing, it makes me laugh every time.

My favorite canon Tony moment is a bit harder to pick, but if I'm going with something light hearted, I'd say when he calls Steve America's hottest president.

My favorite thing about Ults is how extra it is. Like comics can get pretty wild, but Ults seemed to try to go the extra mile to make you go "what?" with soap opera-like antics.

Favorite Steve Moment? Steve waiting for Jan outside Tony's bachelor party

Favorite Tony Moment? I think that time he was hallucinating about Anthony the brain tumor and it's revealed he's just sitting on some ratty couch the entire time.

Favorite Steve / Tony Moment? Steve's death. It's the best Steve death across all the universes. But what's really special is how trusting he is of Tony. His last words are practically asking Tony what he needs and then immediately doing it. And this just leads to Tony's drunken eulogy. All of this is A+, great.

How did you get into it? I've been putting off reading the second half of Hickmanvengers, and Ults was a good way to do that.

Favorite Thing? How sometimes the essence of a lot of characters stays the same, even if they're terrible.

Ults verse in my favorite to write!
There's so many good moments to chose from, but I think my favorite Steve moment might have to be the "America is my white house" line.
Favorite Tony moment is from the chitauri battle when he gets knocked down catching the falling spaceship and pukes in his helmet and is just completely losing it and doesn't believe he can do it but realizes that people need him to be strong so he gets back up to keep fighting.

I got into this verse when I first started getting into comics and my fan culture course had the first volume as a required reading. It became my favorite somewhere around the President Cap story arc, I think.

Jumps in last second because I finally have time. But Ults ended up becoming one of my faves, and oh, gosh, did I become unbelievably attached to Ults Steve.
I originally decided to read the whole Universe, basically, because of Sineala's wonderful fics! I really enjoy the potential fic ideas, and overall setup of the Ults in general. It's just, kinda amazing??? And Tony's original Ults armor design is like, also unbelievably amazing. I appreciate how unique it is from his 616 and MCU armors.

Ults!Tony is so hard to read because his facade is suuuper good. Probably the hardest to read of all the Tonys, and he tells the truth a lot but in a jokey way and no one in the Ults knows each other well enough to call him on his BS. He's a really interesting character!

ULTS STEVE GUILTILY PLEASURING MYSELF IS MY FAVORITE THING AAAHHHHH.

And I really like your favorite moments, too! And I hear you on how the "essence" of the characters stays the same. I really like thinking of how our characters work in AUs, which is part of why Ults is so intriguing to me :D

And I hear you on Ults being super...extra. And I think that in a way, it is more willing to go WTF at itself. I think it helps that there's not an easy reset button in Ults like thre is in 616.

Totally agreed with you on the favorite Tony moment! I really like how Ults both lampshades and also takes seriously the ridiculousness of what they're doing. I thought it was a great humanizing moment for Tony :)

And your fic was really sweet! I love these two finding unexpected comfort in each other!

OH MAN Ults Steve is such a jerk but he also has these amazing moments of vulnerability that make it all work it :) And Sineala's Ults fics are great! And I hear you on it being a great universe for fic - they're what got me into this verse in the first place, too!
