Summary: A story of revolution. Captain Steve Rogers is just trying to pay off his debt to SHIELD, carting cargo from the Rim worlds to the Inner Belts in his bucket of bolts ship, the Howling Commando. But the universe has a different plan for the once highly decorated Captain of the Honor Guard. The universe drops a Courtesan by the name of Tony Stark into his life. What ends up being a simple commission puts his crew in jeopardy and could change all of humanity, because the Courtesan is not really just a pretty face and the Captain of the Honor Guard can fall in love far too easily with a man of conviction - and Tony Stark is a man of conviction.

Discussion Question Wednesday! #4: Crossovers and the Marvel Multiverse

It is time for another...
Discussion Question Wednesday!
This time we will be talking about crossovers. For the purposes of this discussion, a crossover is when characters from another fandom come into the Marvel universe or the Avengers crossover into another fandom's universe. Crossovers by themselves are interesting enough in most fandoms, but Marvel has a canon multiverse that can be played with as well.

Most members of this com are probably already familiar with the concept of the Marvel multiverse, but I'll give a simple overview for those that want a reminder. Each of Marvel's various titles, shows and movies belong to various different continuities. Marvel has established that all of these realities are different universes that exist and they've got numbers. The original main continuity is Earth-616. Don't ask me why Reed gave it that number, but he did. Other notable continuities used in fan fiction are Earth-1610 (Ultimates), Earth-199999 (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Earth-3490 (fem!Tony and Steve are married), Earth-8096 (EMH), Earth-20051 (Marvel Adventures) and Earth-904913 (Iron Man: Armored Adventures.) Avengers Assembled doesn't have an official number yet.

So let's hear what you think about crossovers. Whether it be fics, art, meta or canon events, what do you like and why? Do you think that Steve and Gandalf need to meet; perhaps MCU!Steve needs to run into Natasha Stark and be jealous of his alter ego; or Tony once traveled with the Doctor?

Weekly Chat Time!

It is time for the official chat of the week! So, come hang out and chat! Lurkers are welcome as well. :P

Next week's chat will be on Saturday. I will be on vacation, so I probably won't make it. Don't forget that you can log into the irc channel at any point during the week. Normally, there will be other people around.

The #cap-im IRC channel is on DALnet. If you’re using a regular irc client the server is irc.dal.net and the channel is #cap-im. There are three different options below of web clients. If one doesn't work try a different one.

Got to https://kiwiirc.com/client. Type in the nickname you wish to use. The channel name is #cap-im. There will be a little blue link that opens up the server and network info. Click on that and enter irc.dal.net as the server and 6667 as the port. Here is an example of what it looked like when I filled it out.

Teyke found yet another web client option if the two above aren't working. Go to http://www.wsirc.com/ and fill out the box to the right like Teyke's example below.

Last chat there were a few people who were able to get the http://www.dal.net/ web client working, so I've added it back here. Under Chat Now fill in your nickname and #cap-im.
