2019 Cap-IM Big Bang: 2 Weeks to Go!

 image

We have two weeks left until the 2019 Cap-IM Big Bang drafts are due!!

Author drafts are due by the end of September 25th ("What time is that for me?") — send us your draft to cap.im.events@gmail.com following the protocol listed in our Writers’ Guidelines and you’re all signed up for the Bang!

From September 26th, a preview post showing all the fic summaries and claiming instructions will go up, and then finally on September 28th, claims will open. Remember that you do not need to claim a fic yourself; you can ask someone to proxy-claim for you. Anonymous comments will be enabled on the claims post.

Please keep in mind that summaries are posted anonymously during claims, so we urge you to be tactful about revealing any fic details during the pre-claim period. If you need to drop out, you must do so before your work has been claimed; because this is a collaborative challenge, there is no penalty-free drop out after this point.

We believe in your ability to send us your draft!

For the full Big Bang rules and information for writers and artists, click here. You can also look through our Big Bang FAQ post for more information.

As a reminder, here's the rest of this year's schedule:

  1. October: Artists work on their piece, writers finish their fics
  2. Saturday, October 26th: Teams select posting dates in November
  3. November: Big Bang fic and art begin posting!

Lastly, we want to stress that if you don't get your draft in on time, or you started working on a fic but don't feel like having a posting deadline will motivate you, or you end up with a fic that's under 20K but you think it's done … it’s okay. You have just as much value as a writer whether you do or don't participate in a Big Bang, and it is super brave of you to try to start such a long piece of writing in the first place. Maybe this year is not your year, but there's always next year! Or you can continue to work at your own pace.

As ever, if you have any questions or need some encouragement, please email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com!

Good luck with your writing, and we hope to see your drafts in our inbox soon.
