Cap-Iron Man Newsletter and Fanworks Round-Up March 2021

Welcome to a new edition of the Cap-Iron Man Community Newsletter! The last month saw us do several community updates, from our General Event Guidelines to our sidebar menus. Reverse Bang claims went swimmingly and teams are collaborating as you read this. We're excited to present everyone with a new fest that will launch on March 15th, and we encourage you to enjoy all the amazing remix works that have been revealed recently!

This newsletter gives you an overview of what's been happening at cap_ironman, which upcoming Steve/Tony events to look out for, and a round-up of all the wonderful things that our lovely Steve/Tony creators shared with us since the last newsletter.

• We've updated our General Cap-IM Event Guidelines! These short guidelines apply to all our events, and we urge everyone to read them.


• New to Cap-IM events and want to know what happens throughout the year? Want a refresher of what's expected from participants, or to learn some AO3 tips? We have a great overview for you!


• We've also updated our advertising and hosting guidelines for non-cap_ironman events, so if you'd like to promo your Stevetony event on one of our platforms, head on over to the post!


• We've done a bit of housekeeping to our Ca-IM Challenges Discord Server, including creating a stony-recs (self-recs warmly welcome!) and a general discussion channel.


• We are excited to present a new ongoing event: the Captain America/Iron Man Universe Medley Fest! Each month starting on March 15th, we'll be posting an intro post for the universe of the month, and everyone is encouraged to create works for it! We'll have a remix challenge as well as a prompt fest running, and there's an opportunity to earn badges — we hope to see you there.


• 47 wonderful works were created for the Remix Event this year. Enjoy browsing through them in our Event Masterlist, and seeing whether your guesses about relay chain order and creators were correct!


• Comment Bingo (Round 5) is open - you can request a card here throughout the round.


• A new round of STONY Bingo has begun! You can request a card at any time throughout the round.


• We checked in with the Cap-IM community about our events and engagement in January — you can see the survey results summary here.

• Kink Lucky Dip is a low-pressure multifandom smut exchange. Nominations and signups close March 5.


• The Star-Spangled Big Bang sign ups close on March 5, and the minimum word requirement is 10K.


• The Multi-Fandom Postcard Exchange is spreading the love by hosting a bunch of raffles! Open until March 14, you can enter the LOVE Giveaway here.


• The multifandom Hurt/Comfort gift exchange signups close on March 15.


• Marvel Fluff Bingo is open for card requests until March 16.


• Out of the Auditary, a multifandom fest for podficcing works that don't fit into the "standard" fiction format, is accepting submissions until March 28.


• The March Meta Matters Challenge is focused on not just new meta, but making sure older meta gets a chance to be read and remain a part of fandom history. No signup required.


• The 2021 Marvel Reverse Bang is running in phases this year — the Earth's Mightiest phase begins signups on March 21.


• A multifandom Vid Bingo has started its new round — get your card here!


• A new round of Lights on Park Ave will be announcing its new theme shortly; this is a low-pressure monthly prompt challenge.


• Write Short and Sweet posts a table of prompts once a month, and the challenge is to write a one, two or three sentence story for each prompt!


• The fancake theme of the month will soon be posting their March theme. You have till the end of the month to rec your faves in the community.


• The Steve, Tony and Bucky Bingo allows Stony fills, and is still giving out cards until May 31.

This monthly roundup is for all fanworks people felt like sharing with the cap-ironman Community. To have your Steve/Tony works included in the roundups, you can:

• post or announce your work in one of our community spaces: our Dreamwidth, Livejournalor the #stony-recs channel on our Discord
• post to our Cap-Iron Man Bingo Collection on AO3 or Cap-Iron Man Fanworks Collection on AO3
• leave a fill in current SteveTony Kink Meme round
• post on Tumblr or Twitter and mention cap_ironman (so that we get a notification).

Cold hands, warm heart. Tony had grown up hearing that ever since he could remember. He wasn’t sure who said it first, and he never bothered to care too much, but it did bother him enough to hate it because his hands were always warm.

Lying in the snow in an abandoned ruin in Siberia, Tony had been sure he’d never hear Steve call him "sweetheart" again.
Hearing it again was everything Tony had wished for in those long nights that he'd spent alone in his workshop, burying himself in his work and avoiding falling asleep. Because he'd known that the moment he'd close his eyes he'd be back there, alone, injured, heartbroken. Those nightmares had been his constant companions in the weeks after their breakup.
It had been a long way back to this new normalcy, for both Tony and Steve.
Like the old man said... Together.

They’d gotten there too late. Everyone used to joke with Steve about him being the Man Out of Time, and today of all days the reminder is just a sharp slap to the face. Maybe he needs a slap to the face, Steve thinks briefly, because then at least he would feel something.

Brushing the shattered glass off himself, Steve stands up, puts the sceptre back in the case and looks around. There’s no sign of his double, and Steve doesn’t understand how he’s ended up back with the sceptre when his double was so determined to get it. There’s an echo in his ear and he’s reminded he’s still linked to the rest of the team. “Stark? Anyone? What’s happening?”
“Tony had a minor incident,” comes Natasha’s voice in his ear. “He’s being looked at. Where are you?”
“Lower floor, I’ve still got the sceptre.”
“I thought that was going with SHIELD?”
“So did I.”

Steve remembers, and he goes to Tony to confront him, but in the ensuing fight, a time loop is created, trapping Steve and Tony together. Will they be able to set their differences aside long enough to work on breaking the time loop?
