Marvelling: A Noir Flash Exchange

I’ll be darned, it’s Marvel Noir Month already? Guess it’s time to go on an adventure!

Marvelling is a small-scale flash exchange for all worktypes being held as part of the Cap-IM Universe Medley Fest. Works have to focus on Steve and Tony and be set in the Marvel Noir universe, or centred around Tony Stark from the Marvel Noir reality and Steve (from whichever reality you desire). The trick is, I will be trying to match you so that you won’t be receiving the worktype that you’ve signed up to create!

For example, if you sign up to create a fanvid, then I’ll be trying to make sure you receive an artwork, fic or podfic in return. Note that in the event of skewed fic/other work type proportions, the show will go on, and no one will be excluded from the exchange.

How does it work?

• Sign up through the AO3 Collection with the worktypes you can create for and at least three Steve&Tony or Steve/Tony Marvel Noir prompts.
• I will hand-match folks based on worktypes and prompts and then send out assignments!
• You will have 3 weeks to make a fanwork based on a prompt or one of your assignment’s works in secret.
• Submit your work to the AO3 Collection before the posting deadline.
• Wait for reveals, then comment and kudos away!

This is meant to be a low stress exchange built around the idea of doing a fun Marvel Noir-themed event. In particular because of the NZT deadlines, there will be a few hours’ grace given for the assignments due deadline. There is no guarantee as to how many hours’ grace, and reveals will not be delayed.

Exchange Guidelines

• This challenge is open to participants of all ages.


• All types of fanworks are welcome! This includes, but is not limited to: multimedia fanworks, fanfiction, poetry, music, crafts, art, podfics, vids, edits, gifsets, etc. Note that cap_ironman has a list of podfic-friendly writers if you don't want to script or podfic your own work.


• Steve and Tony's relationship—whether it is romantic, platonic, pre-slash or otherwise—should be the main focus of your work and the “endgame” relationship, if applicable.


• Gifts must be previously unpublished and created specifically for this exchange.


• Please abide by the General Cap-IM Event Guidelines

Sign-up Period

Sign-ups take place on AO3 and consist of requests (what you want to receive) and offers (what you want to create).

Work Requirements
By signing up you are committing to creating, at minimum, one of the below:

• One clean traditional or digital sketch on an unlined surface
• One fanfic of at least 500 words
• One podfic of at least 250 words (no I won’t be counting them, let’s play in good faith!)
• One vid of at least 15 second
• One gifset
• One manip/edit
• One fanmix of at least 5 songs, with cover art (which can be digital, traditional, an edit, etc.)

To sign up, you will need to provide:

• At least 3 prompts themed around Steve, Tony and Marvel Noir (Tony Stark from Iron Man Noir going to a different universe counts!). Please keep in mind that your gift will be small — do not prompt an epic plot!
• Your Do Not Wants (please note that if these are written in bad faith to limit your gift to one very specific thing or contradict your prompts, I will be in touch to ask you to change them).
• An optional list of likes
• Any creators that you do not wish to be matched with (please note that I will do my best to honour this but can’t guarantee that I will be able to).
• The worktypes you are willing to create

If you do not have a Transformative Works Statement in your AO3 profile (or otherwise easily accessible) please either give your potential gifter permission to podfic your works in your request, add a statement to your profile, or state that you are not willing to have your own works podficced.

Creation Period

Please don’t give away who you are creating for until after reveals!

• You must create a gift that is inspired by one of the prompts OR is aligned with like(s) listed in the request.
• You must honour any DNWs.
• You must post a complete gift by the assignment due date

Podficcers: please make sure that if you're podficcing someone else's work, they have got a blanket statement or have otherwise given you permission.
Editors and Manip-people: please do not use existing fanworks as the basis of your work unless the creator has a blanket statement or you have been given express permission. Please do say that you've received permission somewhere in your Author's Note on AO3.

Once you have finished your assignment, go to your assignments page and click the "Fulfill" button for the Marvelling Exchange. You can also post a new work, or post to the collection, and then tick your assignment’s name. The collection is moderated, so there will be a delay between submitting your work and seeing it show up in the collection.

If for any reason you are not able to complete your assignment before the due date, please go to your assignments page and click the "Default" button as soon as possible. There is no penalty for defaulting, but please do try your best to complete your gift!

Treats are allowed throughout the creation period. Treats must honour DNWs, but do not need to meet any minimum requirements. I do ask that if you’re a participant, you first fulfill your assignment before treating.

Reveals

Creator and work reveals will happen sometime on 14 July NZT. There will be no anon period — I will be revealing works and creators simultaneously.
