Hey there, I've been more or less lurking for a couple weeks here, so I figured I'd finally pop in and say 'Hi' *waves*

I also come bearing a request. I'm brand new to the fandom, so I'm reading up as much as I can on the old comics. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any reprints or scans of the Obadiah Stane story arc, which contained Tony's second struggle with alcoholism, and I can only assume the infamous Cap-carrying-Tony-out-of-a-burning-building scene (of course, if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I can't imagine they don't have a trade paperback of it somewhere, seeing as this story line was more or less featured in the movie.

Anyways, if anyone has any scans or something, I'd love to see them :D

Annnnd, to make this not all just mooching, I come bearing a drabble and some icons as well.

Since the first time he sealed himself into the heavy metal chestplate, Tony found comfort within the Iron Man armor. It eased the pain from the shrapnel that threatened his heart. It became a way for him to deal with anger that built up inside him. It became an object for him to focus his energies on while trying to recover from his last fight with alcohol.

The armor gave him a strange sort of solace. When he needed to think, to be by himself, he locked the metal pieces around his body, taking himself to that dark, almost claustrophobic space that exists between his body and the machine. It was in that space that he felt safe, felt invincible – nothing could touch him, nothing could hurt him.

No where else had be been able to find that same peace and safety, save for when he was tangled in bed sheets, short blond hair tickling his neck, with arms, strong and warm, wrapped around him like the armor.

Icons are mostly Tony, but there's one of him and Cap together.

Credit's not necessary, because I didn't actually do anything to them XD

*makes awe sound* Steve is like Tony's armor. This drabble makes me fel all warm and snuggly, for lack of a better term ^_^.

And I love the Tony icon with the fighter jet in the background.

If you're looking for the drinking arc or RedZone or any other vital Iron Man or Steve/Tony backcanon, [livejournal.com profile] seanchai can hook you up. Email her at pixyofthestyx@mac.com

Aww. That was a beautiful, beautiful drabble. I hope you post more soon. :D

Aw, I love the drabble. <3 And the stark industries icon.

Uh... and hopefully this is okay, if you're at all familiar with bittorrent, you might try searching google for "z-cult". You have to be signed in, but I find it's pretty useful.

The Iron Man essentials anthology might eventually (or even already) contain the Stane arc, I'm not sure. It's easy to find volumes of recent series, but to my knowledge the companies are usually pretty behind on releasing the older arcs.

Another alternative might be Marvel's comics archive subscription service; they should have the older ones there. At least they'd better, considering how much they charge...

The is really insightful, sweet and kind of heartbreaking... so I think you've managed to fit everything in there ^^

Also, that last icon fills me with glee.

Somehow, I missed this post originally! I love the icons, especially the second one. Great framing of Tony and the "Stark Industries" there. :-)

And the drabble! So very Tony. I loved it, especially Tony equating Steve, emotionally, with the armor. :-)

Aww, this is so sweet :). And I love that last icon. Steve's expression and pose in that panel always crack me up.
