To give slash fans lots of angst to work with?

Actually, to me it seemed a decent story dumbed down by Marvel's need to have people hit first and think later -_-
Oh and their need to kill people to sell comics. Guh -_-

Anyway though, love the art! Tony and Steve look great so if you don't mind I want to art geek over the different backgrounds. I love that Steve's get those staight lines and Tony as more of a softer, swishier background.
It looks symbolic of their stances, Steve being just very one way in his opinions, right or wrong no middle ground, and Tony being for more willing to compromise.

Maybe I'm reading way to much into it maybe, but it works really well.

Wow, of course!! Think it would be lot better then mine

*blinks* Wha?
What would be a lot better than yours?

Oh ok, I just had someone explain that the art-geeking sounds like I want to re do your art.

*blush* Oh, no, I'm sorry, when I said I want to "art-geek" I meant I was gonna focus in on the backgrounds you did and how cool I thought they were, but I called it art-geeking because it seemed an unusual aspect to focus on in a comment, but I really liked how they don't have the same backgrounds in your art.

I'm sorry I confused you.

I should post something like this on a "conventional" comic book forums and see everyone's reaction.

The English major in me wants to go on about the symbolic representation of the price of war, but the fangirl part of me is shouting "BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO GAY FOR EACH OTHER"

The second macro. Ded!

I won't lie, my spouse and I had differing views over marriage. I didn't see the point of it, and he was for it. It got strained for a while there, until I just said yes.

Aw, pretty. Steve looks so sad. Tony looks determined. I like the different background textures; Steve's is reminiscent of rain.

Marvel just likes to destroy things that are fantastic and manipulate people in to buying a gazillion of their issues by killing someone... *gasp* I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner...

MARVEL IS A SKRULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dies*

they hate us? want to make money? they love screwing with us?

Aw, I thought Civil War was brilliant. Happy endings don't always mean good storytelling. Also, SO MUCH GAY ANGST.

I'm still halfway. I can see what they were trying to do...but it still comes off as a half-arsed Watchmen.

That, and you cannot tell me that, should America EVER be in a state like that, it would not be invaded by another country. Opportunity!

(Skrull Invasion doesn't count, it was pre-planned.)

Because apparently Marvel Higher powers works like this: We have brilliant, iconic superheroes with a wonderful partnership. Hmm. Let's kill him and screw the team up!

I HATE THE CIVIL WAR TOO. D:

But I love your art! Mmm, angsty but so pretty :-)

I HATE CIVIL WAR TOO!

That being said, i really liked this! the emotionality and the substance of the brush strokes is nicely done!

It makes me want to hug (and hit) them both!

I LOVED Civil War.

But your art is great :)

Actually, Tony vs Steve worked

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2008-10-25 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Civil War was all sorts of war: class war, conservative versus liberal, old America vs New America... if the writing hadn't been so uneven, it would have been on of the better Marvel Events.

But yeah, the art is working. I think the font is lost in the pictures though. Probably if it were a different font and a bit heavier.

A bit late, but I just finished so:

Why do they make MARVEl's most loyal best friends stand against each other and fight till hall New York crash?.

To make a statement. Look at what happens at the end. Look at the symbolism. Scifi is a commentary on contemporary society. The authors are trying to portray what is going on in America through their story. Not to mention the completely shattering choices Tony and Steve had to make. Even I didn't realize the sheer scope of what Tony had done until the very end of Frontlines. I didn't actually cry until I realized what he had done.

I don't know. I'm taking an Arthurian lit class this semester, and I keep going back to Lancelot vs Arthur, or conversely, Mordred vs Arthur.
