I like this ending better for three reasons: 1. The opening. Steve assuming Tony only uses the kitchen for the coffee maker. Tony cutting up an apple and offering Steve a slice. Don't ask me why I love that image, but I do. 2. Tony laughing when Steve tells him, “Hang on, baby. I’m going to take care of you.” I can imagine Tony rolling his eyes and vowing to find and destroy Steve's hidden stash of film noir porn. And then forgetting about it as the sexing begins, which brings me to... 3. Tony wailing during sex. Hot! Especially loved this:
Tony wailed again, so loud Steve was startling glad for sound-proofing, and then he closed his eyes and began gasping for breath. That meant he was close; Steve fucked him harder and faster, hearing Tony’s breathing break into little hitched gulps, and then Tony groaned, his body beginning to shake again.
As for the first part, I loved Tony and Steve watching Grey's Anatomy while cuddled on the couch. Blue the doorman was fun, and seemed the perfect set up for a joke: "How'd you get in here?" "Blue the doorman." "You what?"
You already know how I feel about the Sharon bashing, but I just want to reiterate that for the majority of the fic I felt you weren't bashing her; she was obviously hurt and angry, and people say irrational things when they are. Parts of it were even quite sympathetic to Sharon, such as this:
“You’d do that?” Sharon looked…hurt. Not like she was faking it, either, but truly hurt. Steve felt a stab of guilt, and softened his tone. “Look, I know this was a surprise. I’m willing to sit and talk to you about it, because we are friends. Can we do that?” She looked away and mumbled her answer.
In fact, I think you could proudly call this a bashing-free fic by clipping out the bit from "Tony Stark doesn't fall in love" to and he held up a hand and by giving Steve a little angst about possibly losing Sharon as a friend. Obviously he'd choose Tony over her if it came down to it, but he cares for her too and it wouldn't be a pain free decision.
