I stalked your LJ and saw this last night; I toddled off to bed with a smile on my face. I adore your work with Ultimates and second lupus_dragon that they're too in character and prickly to be sweet, per say, but I love that poor Tony finally got his happy ending. Steve too, but Tony's got my heart here. The relentless negativity of Ultimates--well, 616, too, but Ultimates is designed to be a downer--gets to me sometimes, and I can't always justify reading comics if they're not going to provide a nice escape. You know? So I love when you (particularly you--you've got the voices down perfectly) go where the comics will never go and produce a wonderful story like this, that I can read safely and enjoy, and which has the characters I like done so well.
And it really says something that he's even willing to consider sobriety, particularly since this Tony's reasons for drinking are so self-protective. "I care for you enough that I'm going to give up my numbing agents and face the world without protection, so I can spend more time with you" may not sound romantic, but it's better than all the flowers and candy in the world.
