Invincible Iron Man #19 recap and discussion post

Final issue of Worlds Most Wanted. You know the drill! Again, try to keep the Fraction hate to a minimum!

Well, at least now we have a reasonable explanation for the Dissasembled poster.

And I will give Fraction this: he can do some awesome Girl!Power moments.

Oh, Tony. Have we finished beating him up now, Marvel? Not really holding my breath on that one.

Also, I have to say, that "I win" moment, was pretty damn awesome. Cheesy, perhaps, but awesome.

Pepper's armor is officially the best damn armor ever.

Huh. I wasn't expecting much, but that thing with Don Blake was actually pretty clever. I cautiously approve.

Hah I've been picturing the whole desert beatdown and media presence for months now. I feel validated. Though it was not hard to predict really.

Still!

I love how front and centre Maria gets to be. He's really warmed a lot of people to her character. Hopefully she'll get to do more awesome in the wider universe in the future (recent interviews have hinted that she will).

I liked her from day one. I'm just happy that she's not quite so universally despised now.

Hee. I'm not opposed to more in the future, just maybe it's been enough for now? ;)

Thank you writing all those up. They're great.

Oh, that would be an awesome read.
As long as it's not done by the Marvel Divas folks... dangit, now I've gone and given myself the most aweful mental image.

Yeah, ditto, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for her, and I hope to see more of her.

I love Tony putting himself in Thor's hands like that. There's - man, I could write paragraphs on the amount of things going on there.

Poor Tony. I hope now things will get better. And Maria and Natasha and Pepper go out and have wacky adventures together.

Thanks for the recap!

This makes me sad, excited, interested, a little surprised and a little more sad.

I'm confused, but I'll say what has already been said, the Don Blake was a clever clever thing.

OH TONY.

Thank you for writing these. They're the only way I'm able to keep up with the comics. I just--oh Tony. Why do you do these things to yourself? ; ; So sad.

Crackpot theory of the day: that drive that Tony's Angels went to so much trouble to retrieve has a back-up of Tony on it. If anyone understands the importance of keeping back-ups, it's Tony Stark.

I confess, after twelve months of setup, the big climax fell a little flat for me. Yeah, Osborne got caught on CNN, but so what? He's been acting with blatant and public disregard for law and sanity all through Dark Reign, and no one's said boo to him. Is that really going to change just because he got seen on TV beating up a wanted traitor whom everyone already hates and blames for everything that's wrong with the universe?

Ah, well. It still ended on a note that made me want to see what happens next, and like most everyone else, I'm all glowy at seeing my girl Maria kick so much ass. Not to mention my girl Natasha and my girl Pepper.

I think the real problem is that the whole Dark Reign storyline (which I realize Fraction isn't responsible for) makes no goddamn sense. So when Fraction for once has people reacting to Osborne the way you would actually expect people to react to having a homicidal maniac in charge of their national security, I find myself rolling my eyes and going "What, now you suddenly balk?"

Hopefully this new Siege thing that Marvel has coming out in a couple of months will put an end to Dark Reign for good.

I am seriously loving your recaps. Some serious LOL moments. And I've finally broken down and downloaded this whole arc so I can go back and read it from the beginning.

I'm still not a fan of the art but I'm digging the writing more that I used too. Pepper+JARVIS are totally kicking ass! And I'm actually liking Hill more which I never thought possible as I hated her so much during the Civil War. And I admit, when Tony said his whole "I win," I seriously yelled out FUCK YEAH TONY probably scaring my roommate.

Can't wait to see what Thor's thoughts are! And did he ever officially forgive Tony for the whole clone thing?

As far as I know, no

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2009-10-29 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
And did he ever officially forgive Tony for the whole clone thing?

That's why Tony placing his fate in the hands of Dr Blake is supposed to be all O.o worthy. The last time Tony and Thor met, it was in Oklahoma, and Thor gave Tony a beat down (this is in Thor's title). Then when Thor saw Steve (on the other side), Thor offered vengeance on Steve's honour and Steve is all, "No, no more bloodshed in my name."

So, no.
