Just saw this on Marvel's website

Iron Man: Legacy takes flight in April

I'm still too much of a newbie to comics to know much about individual creators. Who's this Fred Van Lente dude? Is he any good?

I kind of like the idea of an ongoing Iron Man series without all the Civil War baggage, but I'm worried about gratuitous retcons of stuff I like. :-P

IIRC, Fred Van Lente wrote the MA:IR series. I'm rather fond of that series but I guess it all depends on both series and how you feel about them.

MA:IR Series?

Really?

Well, that's one of my favorite styles, that's for sure.

Marvel Adventures: Iron ... Robot?

Lol, my hunger totally distracted me from writing the abbreviation correctly!

I would have assumed you meant IM, except that the abbreviation was repeated in the previous reply to your post, so I thought I was missing something, lol. Sorry about that.

As english isn't my first language I'm pretty used to just repeat what I read if I want to talk about it.

You know copy&paste</>

And to think I actually noticed something weird about it...Well, that's ADD for you.

See, I'm not good at codes either.

Iron Retard! There, the man is really getting on my nerves lately. I know it's not his fault (Damn writers) but still...

Nahh, I can't call him Iron Retard, I feel bad.

Iron...Ridiculously handsome man?

Okay, that's just lame (Ignore me, I'm just "talking" alone here)

Who knows. I'm personally hoping they'll be filling in some missing scenes and unanswered questions from the older plotlines. (They're doing Tony's first run in with magic, I am happy)

Fred van Lente is good

Although he wrote the fail in Spiderman (the whole 'it wasn't rape') outcry. He's written Spiderman noir, some aspects of X-men noir, wrote Iron Man Adventures. I think he's a really good writer (again, apart from the Spiderman fail).

Van Lente is a better writer than Fraction. He can do pacing as well as the self contained issues (although this comic seems to be very story arc oriented). This comic seems to be different take on Iron Man (in terms of the big story lines). If nothing else, the art should be better.

It seems to be overkill though, since He Who Shall Not Be Named, Slayer of scans_daily LJ is writing a mini series, plus Fraction's comic, plus Van Lente, plus this new Iron Man vs Whiplash... man, can you say saturated ?

Wait... He's writing Iron Man? Nooooo. Just NO. Big No.

Erm... he's writing Iron Man Legacy

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Fraction is writing Invincible Iron Man the comic we're waiting for some sort of ending.

van Lente's Iron Man Legacy doesn't come out until April. I have faith in van Lente.
