A couple Steve/Tony plot ideas, and three crossovers
I checked the rules to make sure I could post this, and found nothing preventing it, so if I'm in the wrong, sorry.
Over the past few days, fueled by a Hogan's Heroes marathon and a LOT of slashfic reading, three plot ideas have wormed their way out of my brain, and I wanted to share them with any writers here in search of inspiration.
1) Imagine if you will that the Green Hornet (tv!verse, not movie) is part of the Marvel universe. What might happen if Captain America and Iron Man (and if you must, the rest of the Avengers) decide to do something about the crime kingpin lurking in Detroit (or wherever you decide the Hornet is set up)? Would they eventually come to the understanding that the Hornet isn't really deserving of jail or what have you? Would they team up for a short time, citing "the enemy of my enemy," and so on?
Honestly, this is simply me wanting the Hornet and Kato to team up with Cap and Tony and kick someone's butt.
2) I read a fic the other night where instead of Cap being the frozen-thawed hero from WW2, it was Tony who was frozen, and thawed in the modern age. This intrigued me, and gave me this idea: What if Tony was Captain America, and Steve was Iron Man? Tony's weak heart being the reason he undergoes Supersoldier serum treatment. And Steve, scrawny genius artist, creates the Iron Man suit to compensate.
....okay, it has flaws. but I think it might be an interesting thing to knock out.
And lastly, based that fic in which Tony is the ice-frozen WW2 hero Iron Man and Steve is the modern Avenger Captain America, in which Tony is Captain America frozen and thawed from WW2 and Steve is Iron Man in the present, and after reading this excellent WW2 Marvel Noir fic in which both Steve and Tony are superheros during WW2 at the same time as eachother, I've come up with an extension of the second plot idea I had here.
What if both Steve and Tony were WW2 superheros, working together in the fight against the Axis powers, and they both got frozen in time? Not necessarily the same way - I mean, Cap could've been frozen in the ice as usual, and a short time later, Tony gets....sucked through a time portal, or captured and frozen by bad guys, or whatever. Later, they both wake up in the future, and one or the other of them thinks the other is gone forever, but then it turns out they're both alive, and there's happy tearful reunions of slashy fluffy angsty goodness, and because it's the modern age everyone thinks it's absolutely beautiful and weepy and heartachingly romantic when they finally come face to face again.
It's making me cry and I'm only brainstorming.
Have I sparked anyone's braincells yet? I really, REALLY want to see these ideas written. Gimme sommit soppy and lovely to read in the agony of waiting for July 22. (and someone tell me why the heck they're not releasing Captain America on July 4th! bah.)
EDIT: Had two more ideas that I don't think have been written - at least, if they have, I haven't found them.
1) Fans of Torchwood know the immortal Captain Jack Harkness was running around in World War 2. What if he met Steve Rogers, either before/during/after he became Captain America? And then later showed up to give Steve a familiar face after they found and thawed him out? (A scene comes to mind: Jack, striding across the compound, gives a friendly, teasing shout to Rogers, who is as shocked as anyone to see an old friend as unaged as he.) Slash not required, but if it makes Tony jealous, suuuure. I imagine it might be a bit pre-slash though. (And of course, it's Jack Harkness.)
2) Another crossover idea, again more Cap-alone than Cap/Tony, but I'm lumping it all in together. What if one of the missions given to Colonel Robert Hogan and his crew at Stalag 13 crossed paths with Captain America? Maybe Cap was one of the people who liberated the camp at the end of the war, or he was a momentary guest of the Luftwaffe camp for whatever reason. (Actually, I have in my head another scene: Cap gets captured by the Luftwaffe after the plane he was on gets shot down, and is dragged into camp. Everyone is very unassuming of his super-identity, and when they find out he's Cap, Steve gets all flustered and sheepish, and he has to play quiet and not break out, but then the germans find his shield in the woods, and Oh Noes. I dunno. For some reason, I like the idea of Cap being outmatched just for a little while; wartime couldn't always have been an easy winning ride.)
