Armor question

Okay, I tried to look this up, but my house is a disaster area right now, and I can't find any of my New Avengers TPBs. I think the cats might've sold them on e-bay. So I'm hoping the smart folks here can help.

Tony had Extremis when New Avengers formed, so it was the suitcase armor he could summon with his brain, right? And did the books ever say how it was powered? I know the whole "mini arc-reactor" business is movieverse stuff that Fraction later adopted, but did the Extremis armor have its own power source, or was it one of those things where Tony had to lug it back to the lab and recharge it every once in a while?

Sigh. I probably spent more time worrying about this stuff than the actual Marvel writers do...

At work right now, so I have no proof, but I think it was biochemically charged..? He had that underarmor that was stored in his bones and it had a circuit pattern to it which I believe hooked up to the armor. Also, he moved the armor with magnets he controlled with his mind, so... you know, I don't even know how that handwavey science was supposed to work.

I assume that the armor was powered by "repulsor technology." I suppose that that's a step up from the early days, when it was powered by transistors. (TRANSISTORS ARE NOT A SOURCE OF ENERGY, MR. LEE!)

I remember something about solar energy? Isn't his armor recharging when they're stuck in the Savage Land? I had asumed it was using solar for that.

Isn't "Repulsor Technolgy" (or RT) is the glowy thing which Tony (and Pepper :\ ) now have in Fraction!canon due to movie!arc-reactor being all ~pretty? (And which he still needs to recharge in a lab?)

I don't think they've ever actually mentioned Extremis' power source. Considering that Extremis was basically supposed to 'cure' everything wrong with Tony (plus have no visible-immediately' downsides at all) having to have Extremis regularly charged in a lab, seems a bit unlikely to me.

I agree that it was probably supposed to be either (or both!) biochemical and solar re-charging but that doesn't seem to be able to produce anything near enough. (For biochemical charge, Tony's metabolism would also probably increase exponentially, now that I think of it! O_O)

Okay, I went through my trades, and it's not really mentioned. But in Breakout I would say he doesn't have Extremis; he has to say a code to make the armour form up into a drone, and he's naked when the others are dressed and the drone is still firing; if he'd had the undersuit he could've put it out. No clues in Sentry, but in Secrets and Lies he's reading Jessica Drew's vitals signs off a readout in his gauntlet.

In The Collective he's got that whole 'standing naked in a dark room of screens' thing going on. Could be Extremis.

I remember worrying about this for a fic a while ago, and I never pinned it down.
