Ohhh... the other storyline to avoid. Ultimatum. *snerk* Yeah, I was having problems imagining Tony keeping his amazingly demanding high-tech suit running in a post-apocalyptic world where everything -- especially money, and, oh, NEW YORK -- appeared to be gone. It made no sense.
As little sense as how the writers of Ultimates kept bringing in every other "done" storyline from 616 and making it uglier and nastier rather than trying to do anything new with the world they made.
And I agree the Red Skull story was pretty tight, except for the Tony bits, but it was so harsh. I did like Steve's character in it tho. It hurt, not good, but just hurt.
