Avengers mini review (take 2)

(Lets try this again. Curse you lj cuts! Sorry about that guys.)

Just got home from the press screening for the Avengers and I am full of feelings. So many feelings I need to share them with other people. I can't go into detail, but I can give you guys an idea of what to expect from the film without giving away any plot points.

First off, I saw it in 3-D, which was okay. Mostly it just made me squint and blurred some things, but it did make Chris Evans' ass look amazing. That thing practically bounced off the screen and into my face. But to me that doesn't really make up for over two hours of squinting.

Second, these are some of the thoughts I had in relation to the fans:

Tony fans: As expected, Tony has the best lines in the movie. In addition to Stark Tower and all of its bling, we get to see the newest suit, the mark 7, which is sorely needed by that point because damn Tony is rough on those suits.

Steve fans: Somewhere between 616 Steve and Ultimates Steve. Sweet as apple pie, tough as nails, and a bit of a boy scout with a stick up his butt.

Steve/Tony fans: There is a lot of friction between these two. Wasn't sure whether they were going to fight or fuck, they were right in each other's faces. Tony does at one point call Steve a Capsicle.

Tony/Pepper fans: These two don't get much time together, but their scenes are great. Tony is looking to get some and Pepper has little denim booty shorts (fan service ahoy!).

Loki fans: There is so much material to work with here. Lots of Loki scenes, which makes sense since he is the Big Bad. Can't say too much without giving anything away, but prepare to squee.

Thor: We always see scenes in fanfiction where people make earth references Thor doesn't get. Thor makes an Asgardian reference that no one gets, LOL.

Thor/Loki fans: Wonderful scenes with these two. Much family angst and later some Loki bondage with a nod towards the myths (you will know it when you see it). I foresee much kinky Loki fanfiction soon.

Thor/Jane fans: Not much to go on here. Thor seems more worried about Loki (which is good for us slash fans, mwuahaha).

Clint fans: Don't be fooled by how little they have shown him in previews, it's because any more would have spoiled the movie. Very bad ass.

Natasha Fans: Very tricky secret agent spy stuff here.

Clint/Natasha fans: Lots of intimacy between these two and hints of their backstory.

Bruce fans: Rejoice, for the Hulk has finally been done right. Hulk has some of the best fights scenes in the film.

Tony/Bruce fans: If you weren't a fan of this pairing before, you will be. They are science buddies, it's adorable. I predict a spike in this pairing's popularity.

Coulson fans: You will flip flop between laughing and sobbing so much the people next to you in the theater will think you are bipolar.

Nick Fury fans: Damn. Just...damn. You're never quite sure if he's a good guy or bad guy, but he is always badass doing it.

Lastly, be sure to watch the credits for a hint of the next movie's big villain.

Saw it last night and absolutely loved it!

I can't read any fics that are Tony with anyone but Steve but visually? Yeah, totally shipping the hell out of Tony/Bruce. Their instant friendship and meeting of minds was adorable. I thought Mark made a really good Bruce; obviously edgy, very smart and quick witted and just downright sweet. And the Hulk was brilliant, had some of the biggest laughs in the movie and was just downright badass.

Coulson was excellent, loved his moments with Cap.

I wasn't a huge Widow fan in Iron Man 2 but I loved her in this.

The only person I think got short-changed was Maria. I'm not overly familiar with the character but I feel it might have been better to have the same character but make up a name, because she didn't seem to do a whole lot for a canon character. If that makes sense.

Overall, I thought Joss did an excellent job of balancing all the characters out so it didn't focus more on one than anyone else. If anything, I think Loki probably gets the most screen time out of any of them! (No complaints here). There wasn't as much Steve/Tony interaction as I was expecting, I will admit, but I didn't find it lacking in anyway. It definitely leaves more to work on in future films. Look forward to seeing it again soon!

I agree about almost everything, especially Maria and Black Widow.
Also, I expected some more bickering and hurt/comfort between Steve and Tony because I thought they were going to talk more about the fact that Howard was Tony's father.

I read an article just before I went that said there was originally a lot of mention of Howard between them throughout the film but neither of them were particularly comfortable with the scenes and Joss felt like he was making Iron Man 3, rather than an Avengers film so he cut pretty much all of it. Sucks for Tony/Steve shippers but I totally understand why he made that call and I think it was definitely for the betterment of the film as a whole.

It sounds logical. I hope they will mention it in Iron Man 3... but I guess there won't be Chris Evans there D:

However I really liked it. And the scene where Steve is getting closer and closer to Tony saying "Put on your armour"... <3

Yeah, I thought they might tackle it a bit in IM3. If it's true that Evans has signed up for 6 Marvel pictures as Cap then, seriously, he has to crop up in some other movies because that's just insane. It wouldn't surprise me if he showed up in Iron Man 3 for a scene or two, they need to get this bromance into gear! I don't want to have to wait for Avengers 2, dammit! :P

If in Iron Man 3 we will see Steve and Tony boxing and Steve teaching Tony how to fight I will be happy forever.

Ooh, definitely agreed! I suppose the only real problem they have is that no doubt Steve will stay in his beloved New York while Iron Man 3 will probably take place back on the West Coast. Plus, the timelines are all demented. I have no idea whan IM3 is taking place but if it's directly after Avengers then that coincides with Captain America 2, so presumably they will both be doing their own thing. Argh, I hate the waiting! Oh well, long live fanfiction! Haha.
