Tony would totally pick fights with Steve on purpose just so he can get hugs from Steve. Steve obviously wouldn't understand and thinks Tony just doesn't like him but gets sad/hurt when Tony has to (occasionally) hug the other Avengers. Because Tony is kind of a jerk. Coulson would know though. Coulson always knows when his children Avenger team is having a crises.
