Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 03 September 2012

Welcome to the [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter! First of all, Big Bang art claims are open!

If you haven't tracked down the Avengers deleted scenes you should get on that. Here Joss Whedon explains why they didn't make the cut. Some art has been released for Uncanny Avengers. Writer Rick Remender and publisher Tom Brevoort talk about the series. The official poster for New York Comic Con 2012 will feature the Avengers, and by the Avengers I mean four dude Avengers. *sigh* Here is a review of Marvel Heroes, an action RPG video game. I'm not a gamer, but it looks like you can play as the Scarlet Witch, which makes me think I might have to check this out. Also intriguing? Avengers themed Burlesque.

If any of you are into daily comic strips, today's Pooch Cafe was cute and relevant.

Talk about anything off or on topic in the comments, just keep it reasonably safe for work!

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments. If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [livejournal.com profile] muccamukk, or [livejournal.com profile] valtyr.

That first article with Joss Whedon is interesting, thanks for linking! Where did they get the date for the Blu-ray/DVD release, though? I thought maybe they accidentally put September instead of August, but I can't see how they got from August 29 to September 25. O_o

[identity profile] leita-dragoon.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's Sept 25 in the UK and US.

... What? Really? But... Australia NEVER gets nice things. Or at least not first? Except now we do, apparently.

Huh. That's really weird.

[identity profile] tammaiya.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Also, makes very little sense, given that UK and Australia are in the same region code for Blu-Ray etc.

Thanks, mods. I really appreciate this comm and the hard work that goes into it.

I totally agree with this comment!

Tentatively excited for Uncanny Avengers. Will Wanda be treated a little better by writers (please)? The cover's lack of ladies-as-sex-kittens and the comments in the article about their costumes also make me hopeful.

Also lol at Remender's comment that the X-Men island would have made a great reality show and comparing living in Avengers Mansion to Big Brother.

Resisting commenting on the Burlesque article that Scarlet Witch was totally an "actual" Avenger. >:P

[identity profile] cellia.livejournal.com 2012-09-05 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
It's an odd line-up, but I like characters who I wouldn't expect interacting interacting, so... we'll see. I really am most interested in Wanda here, but I also like Wolvie.

As for the burlesque article, the guy(?) writes:

"First up, was ‘Aurora’ as the aforementioned Scarlet Witch, one of the most impressive costumes of the evening...."

A paragraph down he then writes:

"The next character (and first ‘actual’ Avenger) to appear was The Incredible Hulk...."

I mean, Hulk was an Avenger for like 5 mins in the beginning and I don't think has really been one again in 616... unless I'm forgetting something. There's the movie of course (and ults and the cartoon and adventures), which is what the man on the street generally knows best but... she was only an Avenger for decades and was only the major (painful/wtf-ish) plot device of the biggest Avenger event. I feel cranky about how comic ladies are so often erased/forgotten or reduced to a only an empty hot costume. Not an "actual" Avenger, but the Hulk is...

Also there's the Simpsons comic book store guy in me thinking "but that's *wrong*" lol.
