Discussion Question Wednesday!

Disregard the last numbering system. This is the correct number. Sort of. XD Anyway, it's past that time again, so let's discuss!

What kind of animals should Steve and Tony be turned into/have as pets or daemons?

Oh look! This may be the first and last time I actually have a picture for this. XD But what animals do you want to see everyone with or as? Are you like 90% of the internet (and me) with an endless love of cats? Or do you want to see more obscure animals coming to the front. Do you proudly proclaim your support for non-traditional couples like Captain Americat and Iron Mouse? Come one and all to talk about our favorite super-heroes and animals they should be turned into or need to cuddle with. Feel free to leave fic and art recs!

I'm definitely a cat person. So I like reading any and all fics with cat transformations or cats as pets. I have a weakness for both Steve and/or Tony as cats fics, so long as they aren't au. I may have even written one. XD

Really, I just need more Captain Americat and Iron Mouse in my life. Don't ask me why. It is just so.

As for Daemons, I'm just going to put this fic here. It's gen, but it's one of my absolute favorites because it follows all the universe rules. <3

Also, look at this beautiful art of Tony with kitty-Cap. Because it's adorable.

I'll leave with one last thought. There really should be more dragons in normal universes. And possibly unicorns I don't kill. Just saying. XD

I don't know—in some ways Cap is such a dog, so loyal and steadfast and true. But he also is a, stubborn, independent thinker. He knows what's right without being influenced by those around him. A super, super smart dog?

Tony has all the "look at me, love me!" of a dog, but also the loner side and the contrariness of a cat. I think he's one of those cats who will get in your face and insist on being petted when they're in the mood, but otherwise they're not thinking about you at all.

For daemons, for some reason I'm thinking a thoroughbred horse for Steve. Maybe a donkey, but that would give him away. ;-) Maybe a lion. For Tony, something really smart, chattering, and possibly showy. Like a macaw.

I think all of these qualities can be found in a lot of animals, but we tend to stereotype them. I've known cats that are extremely loyal and caring, and dogs that are loners. XD I would totally be down for more Cap transformation fics of any type though, because it's always Tony that gets turned into a Cat and the others having to deal with him. I want to see Tony having to deal with an animal.

Steve would have to have a really stubborn mare of some sort if he's got a horse. <3

I'm 100% a cat person, but I still like dogs a lot. However, I do prefer fics with Tony or Steve as cats. Steve has a dog is more common though (which is fine, I still read those). Same goes with pet owner wise (cats over dogs but both are just as cute anyway)

As for daemon fics, I couldn't decide on an animal at all. I like them with non-regular daemons like ocelot for Tony or something like that (need to consult internet hmm). I've read a few of HDM-marvel AU though and they often have Tony with a cat daemon and Steve with a dog/wolf daemon.

Heh. Cats are my favorite too. XD

I think a lot of fics give Tony a cat and Steve a wolf or dog is because that's what makes sense in the HDM universe? But then, I don't see many fics that actually follow most of the rules of HDM universe. I think they just give them whatever animals they want a lot of times. XD

Thanks! There's a few short ones out there I think? But the best one I know of is this one of Ultimates. It's cute and also features Fury as a cat. XD

I may have taken some "what's your Daemon" quizzes (responding as I thought Steve and Tony would based on my comics readings) as, erm, research >.>

According to the results, Steve would have a big cat (cheetah), Crane, Wolf or Raven daemon. (Birds of prey in general and large protective mammals like water buffalo and rhinos also came up in one based on his Meyers-Briggs type from that meme - INFJ)

Tony could have a goat, musk ox, sparrow or peacock daemon (display birds, anolis and small brightly colored frogs also came up in his Meyers-Briggs type - ENTP). the only problem i see with this is that most colorfully displaying animals are male, and Tony would likely have a female daemon. But whatever.

This may have led to me seriously considering how hug-n-fly would work for with daemons, especially if they had, say, a goat and a cheetah. Would Tony build a suit for his daemon if it couldn't fly? Would he do the slowly-increasing-distance thing witches do in HDM? How would the serum affect Steve's daemon?

And then I realized I should probably do the quizzes again based on what Steve and Tony were like when they were 13, because puberty. ah well.

Heh. I tend to think that there may have been some torture in Afghanistan that made it so Tony could be distant from his daemon. As for the serum, it probably strengthened the daemon too, but I tend to think Steve's daemon was already pretty powerful, since it's a reflection of Steve. It would probably change a lot of people's perception of Steve, which would be an interesting thing to see.

I can't see Steve as anything but a golden retriever. Tony is harder to pick out. My first instinct would be to turn him into an animal that builds and engineers, because that's what he does at his core, so maybe a beaver? Or some kind of nesting bird.

Daemon's I weirdly find easier to peg. Steve's got to have something that's small, but scrappier than you'd ever expect it to be. Everyone's brought up loyalty as well, so a badger. (Hufflepuff=loyalty and all that jazz, even though Steve's almost certainly a Gryffindor.) Or possibly one of the smaller wolf species.

For Tony I would think something bright, flashy, and intelligent, but ultimately solitary, and certainly something that flies. A raven or one of it's cousins, like a magpie.

*snickers* Tony as a beaver is a pretty priceless mental image. XD

OOh, for the first time in ages I'm tempted to write fic. Tony Beaver! I will try!
