I am very tired of "event changing" massive crossovers. Having the heroes fight each other has become plain boring - and here it is yet again. *sigh* I think I may move out of mainstream superhero comics for a while (it wouldn't be the first time and I've been reading, on and off since 1959.)
Not that I am adverse to cleansing universes and tidying up the large numbers of superfluous worlds and heroes, but you have to do it right. Crisis on Infinite Earths gave rise to some of my all time favourite comic books in the DC universe (Justice League International yay!) However, the results of Infinite Crisis and the New 52 were and are unencouraging.
Furthermore, I don't trust many of the writers currently in Marvel's stable, particularly the movers and shakers. They aren't interested, for the most part, in writing the characters (or situations) as established canon, but in having fun by changing them beyond recognition, and being much fonder of characters they have created themselves and bringing them front and centre no matter how well, or worse, how badly, they have been received.
