"I don't trust many of the writers currently in Marvel's stable... They aren't interested, for the most part, in writing the characters (or situations) as established canon, but in having fun by changing them beyond recognition..."

This perfectly sums up how I feel about this whole thing. Usually when Marvel announces a big event (which is quite often nowadays! When are we getting regular stories again?!), you're still given the option to not really participate by reading some of the other stuff other people are writing. There's always someone at Marvel that'll pick a character back up and fix all of the previous author's mischaracterizations. But I don't trust anyone that's currently there. I don't think any of them are really *fans* of the characters they're writing about (looking at you REMENDER) so why should I even bother?

And they didn't even bother fixing anything from their last event! I'm absolutely terrified that they're just going to roll with Superior Iron Man and change Tony's character permanently, which means that the chances of him and Steve becoming best friends again pretty much disappears completely. They're just going to continue to hate/ignore each other because hey, it's edgy and dark and fun and why would someone like Tony have a friend like Steve anyway right? People want MCUTony in the comics! >=/

(Oh and that bit about them not incorporating MCU elements into 616?! Are they kidding? That's complete bullshit.)

A very tiny microscopic part of me still wants to remain hopeful, though. Despite the THOUSANDS OF DISAPPOINTMENTS Marvel has dished out since the civil war, I'm hoping that sometime in the future, real-life Marvel fans will finally take control again, and realize that what made comics great and engaging were the characters and storylines, not the cross-overs and the big events. When will they get to team up again and fight actual super villains? Not any time soon apparently, and that's a fucking shame.
