Average Avengers Local Chapter 7 of New York City (https://archiveofourown.org/works/312527) by hetrez (http://archiveofourown.org/users/hetrez/pseuds/hetrez)

Steve and Tony accidentally start a national do-gooders association and fall in love.

I just really love this fic, and the podfic of it is great as well. What sticks out for me most in this story is that it really makes me feel like they are living in New York instead of just kinda vaguely existing there, which as someone who has never been to New York is pretty cool.

You should always meet your heroes. (Or: Tony Stark, formerly of Marvels magazine, encounters Captain America, formerly nobody special, at a party in 1942.)

Lots of firsts in this one, also Noir! And fancy parties in the war years, just fun.

For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

Time-travel fics, especially well-done ones that weave in the first-meeting-isn't-the-same-for-both-parties trope, just have a special place in my mental library. This one is one of my favorite explorations of that.

Sex Lies and Newsprint (http://archiveofourown.org/works/257349) by nightwalker (http://archiveofourown.org/users/nightwalker/pseuds/nightwalker)

A year of Cap/Tony romance as told by the tabloids. (WIP, 11 of 12 chapters)

One of my favorite uses of the juxtaposition between the media and the Avengers' actual lives.

In which Namor has a thing for Steve, an octopus has a thing for Tony, and Steve and Tony eventually have a thing for each other.

Fake dating! Plus cheesy romance novels and an over-affectionate octopus. Of all the fake-dating fics I have read in this fandom, I think this one was the most absurd while still being in-character. Fun all around.
