New Bingo Round: BINGO 2015!

The old round has come to an end; a new game begins! If you have fills you'd like to claim for the previous round, please check out here. If you're interested in getting a new bingo card, this post is the place to be!

The goal: Fill prompts to complete a line (row, column, or diagonal). Feeling adventurous? Try for a blackout (fill every prompt on your card).

  • Fills must be original and created specifically for your bingo card. They must not have been submitted for any other organized fandom challenge (such as bangs, exchanges, etc). You are welcome to use supplementary prompts from any source (including 890fifth, avengerskink, etc). Special exception: works created for the 2015 C-IM Tiny Reverse Bang can be counted as bingo fills!

  • Fills can be either fic (500+ words), art (no manips), or podfic (500+ words)

  • A fill may only count toward ONE space/prompt. This includes multi-chaptered fills.

Posting fills:
Fills can be posted wherever you like, but must be tagged with something like 'bingo', 'cap-ironman bingo fill', etc. We encourage (but do not require) you to post your fics to the comm with the 'bingo!' tag, use the #stonybingo tag on tumblr, or add your fic to the AO3 collection.

Cards and prompts: Some prompts are specific, some are open to interpretation. Let us know if you would like clarification on one of your prompts. For image prompts, you are not required to stick to the same format or universe, though you may choose to do so. (For example, if your visual prompt is a 616 panel, you don't have to do a 616 fill.)

You have the option to include KINK prompts. Sorry, we are not allowing omissions. If you receive a prompt on your card that you don't know or dislike, just work around it. Randomness and risk are part of the fun!

EDIT (for clarification): Some prompts are related to a format type, such as 'writing format: outsider pov', 'art format: line art', or 'podfic format: atmospheric'. You get to pic what type of format prompts you'd like to include. Don't worry, if you choose not to include (for example) art format prompts, you can still draw stuff for fills - you just won't get those specific prompts on your card.

SAMPLE bingo card

To receive your STONY bingo card, leave a comment with answers to the following:
Username?
Kink or no kink?
Fic, art, or podfic (select at least one)?
(EDIT for clarification: This refers to 'format' prompts only. Regardless of what you choose, you can still use any of the three to fill prompts. Please see above for more detail.)

Your card will be posted to as a reply to your comment, so if you comment anon, be sure to check back. Due to time zones and stuff, it may take us a day or two to respond. You may request a second card once you have completed a line on your first card.

This round will end January 31st, 2016!

Thank you! I'm really excited to try this out, & what better way to lose my Bingo V-card than with stony? I have a few questions about my spaces though? Does Transformation include de-aging? and Canon:Auverses and What if; like if Howard hadn't been killed, Cap found earlier/later? That kind of thing? Lingerie=dress up? (god I hope so) And then I'm sorry for all the questions, but what do you mean by Canon: comic miniseries/oneshot? Thank you for your help in advance. :)

I totally agree there's no better ship to lose your bingo v-card with, but I may be a bit biased :D

Sure, transformation can include de-aging! And I would say dress-up definitely includes lingerie.

The 'canon: x' prompts are challenges to write something set in or about the named canon. For 'canon: au verses and what if...?', Marvel comics (and the cartoons) canonically have interactions with alternate realities, and there's a comics line called 'What If...?' which is basically canon one-shot issues centered around alternate universes where things went differently (my personal fave is 'What If Tony Stark was the Sorcerer Supreme?'). Or, for example, there's a miniseries (which I keep meaning to get around to reading) called 'Bullet Points' where Steve becomes Iron Man. So the challenge there would be to write something involving one of those canon AUs.

Likewise, for 'canon: comic miniseries/oneshots', the challenge is to pick a particular miniseries or one-shot (which could also be one of those canon AU miniseries/oneshots, or could be a miniseries/oneshot set within one of the larger comics universes such as 616, Marvel Adventures, or Ultimates) and write a fill about it.

The idea with the canon prompts is to challenge people to play around with particular canons, just as other prompts challenge people to play around with particular tropes. Steve/Tony exists in a lot of different types of media, and a lot of different canons, so we have a wealth of background material. The comics canons can be intimidating if you're not familiar with them, but people here are always happy to make recommendations for where to jump in (and point you in the direction of some, um, extremely affordable sources, if you so desire). And comics fandom in general likes to make wikis for everything, so it's a lot easier these days to find information about all this stuff even without having to read a single issue.

Please don't worry about asking too many questions, feel free to keep asking me here! If you have canon questions in particular, I'd also encourage you to come over to the IRC chat sometime - there's usually someone in the chat at any given time, but especially during the weekly chats there's generally people around who will have recs for comics, cartoons, games, etc. Also we are friendly and love new faces :)

I would like to take advantage of the offer of help please with my canon squares? Recs where to start and uh find? Thank you so very much. (I'll prob check out the chat during my next graveyard shift if there's any night owls lol.

OK!

There may be more to this comment coming later, as I plan to ask again at the weekly chat, and but here's the combined wisdom of everybody who was there tonight! These are ones which are hopefully understandable without much comics background, but your mileage may vary.

AUs/What Ifs (...most of these also count as oneshots/miniseries. A lot of the recs here are for only Steve or only Tony, but you can easily add the other in to the world-building)
- Oneshot: What If? Vol 2 #133, What If Tony Stark Was the Sorcerer Supreme (Tony only)
- Oneshot: What If? Vol 1 #33, What If Iron Man Was Trapped In the Time of King Arthur (Tony only)
- Miniseries: Iron Man Noir (it's 1940s IM! Tony only)
- Oneshot: X-factor #231 (cyborg!Steve, hot silverfox!Tony, post-apocalyptic!Earth)
- Exiles Vol 1 #31-32 (aka 'What if Captain America was King of the Vampires')
- Giant Sized Little Marvel (all the heroes and villains are young kids... with costumes and enough powers to blow up their neighbourhood)

A bunch of the currently-running mini-AU series from Secret Wars count. Currently-running means that they're not complete, but there's also a lot more current discussion about them. Some of interest:
- 1872 (Issue #1 is wildly loved, issue #2 has quite a bit of controversy about it and if you're squeamish about things, you should probably ask for warnings).
- Planet Hulk (Steve only) (Steve! Dressed as a gladiator! Apparently spends a lot of time in bondage)
- Civil War (an AU where they never stopped fighting, and split the US down the middle)

Other oneshots/miniseries (non-AU)
- Oneshot: Avengers Annual 2013 (christmas at the Tower!) (I think this is supposed to be set in 616, but it may be an AU in its own pocket-universe, after all)
- Miniseries: Avengers Prime (Steve, Thor, and Tony go on an unexpected camping trip, after Steve and Tony have been fighting for ages) (set in 616)
- Oneshot-ish: Captain America and Iron Man Vol 1 #633, One Night In Madripoor (technically part of a larger series, but a lot of people just treat it as it's own thing and forget the rest of the storyline...) (set in 616)

As for how to access them: Many of these are older, so if you have a Marvel Unlimited subscription (to access comics on their website), you will probably be able to access them through there. Unlimited is about $10 USD a month for access to all comics older than six months, although there are some that are missing from their online database, so if you're doing a lot of backreading then it's really worth the price. If you don't have unlimited, you can buy issues individually online, or via your Local Comic Store. Or hit us up on the IRC, for directions to other locations that we can't mention on LJ (in order to keep the comm from having any difficulties with the LJ TOS) ;)

Do come check out the chat! I've noticed it tends to be most active during evening in the Americas on weekdays, but on weekends it's more active throughout a variety of timezones. And we've got a number of night-owls.

Hopefully this is a good start! If you Google search the volume #s or titles above, you should be able to find more info about each storyline, as Marvel comics are pretty extensively wiki'd.
