cap_ironman | BINGO 2016 Round 1: one month left!

That's right: a new bingo round will be born as the seventh month dies, born to those who thrice defied the--wait, wrong canon. You could totally use it for the crossover: marvel verse/non-marvel verse square, though!

Bingo 2016 Round 1 will end on July 31st, 2016 and the new round, Bingo 2016 Round 2, will start immediately thereafter. This means that to qualify for scoring for Round 1, you will need to have posted your fic/art/podfic somewhere public, tagged or noted as being for the cap-ironman bingo, before July is over. Like last round, a scoring post will go up in mid/late July where people can start claiming prizes (aka shiny banners).

A few rules reminders and answers to FAQs:

Bingo is very laid back about timezones. So as long as it's still July somewhere in the world, you're fine.

While we loved the flood of fanworks that the end of the last round brought, please keep it to one post to the comm per day. It is A-okay to list multiple works in one post.

If you don't have a bingo card for Round 1 and don't want to wait until August to get one, you are welcome to ask for one on the Round 1 post! There is, after all, still a month left, and there's no penalties for not completing fills, except that you won't get a shiny banner reward.

As a reminder, we ask that bingo fills should not double as a fill for any exchange/bang/etc other than the Cap-Ironman Reverse Bang. (If you are an artist who has submitted art for the TRB that fills a bingo square, but will not be revealed until after July, you're fine and you can totally count it for Round 1! Just let me and the TRB mods know and claim it in the Round 1 prize claims post.) Combining with prompts from other places is fine.

The second part of this is that we are looking for new prompts to add! If you have ideas, please let us know here in this post. The current prompt list can be viewed here, and all of the picture prompts (they're the prompts with 'GRRRR' in front of them in that list) can be seen here. In particular we are looking to refresh the image prompts, and anyone who submits an image prompt already pre-cropped into a rectangle with a 3:2.5 width:height ratio will earn my eternal adoration. Images not in that ratio are also welcome, I will just have to go after them with a pair of shears. Edit to add: opinions about the current list (both in general or about specific prompts) are also welcome.

I kinda want to suggest a separate Canon: 1872, for obvious reasons. But I guess it fits under AU versions and so isn't strictly necessary. And I guess I'd suggest changing fix-it into (not) a fix-it ;)

There's soulbonds and telepathy; do we need both? There are a few others that struck me as similar ("questionable decision-making process" and "tony no" XD nah, I'm joking on this one, probably), but I'm not sure if you're only looking for new ideas, or general opinions on the current list.

I'll try to provide more recent canon picture square ideas when I'm more conscious.

Yes, current prompts are totally up for discussion! I thought I had that in the first line of that paragraph but apparently I didn't. I'll edit that. If there's prompts that could be combined, or changed, I'd love to hear thoughts on it. The aim is to freshen up the list for the people who have done bingo the last couple rounds. So even for prompts that are perfectly fine, if they've been there for a while then maybe it's time for a change. Or if there's prompts that can be combined or transformed, like with soulmate/soulbond, then that can happen, too. Or they can be transformed into something more specific, even.

You *would* say that about fix-its, lol ;) Hahaha, I suppose it could be a trade-off on it prompt (I'm poking at how a cyclical thing would work for some prompts rotating in/out, as part of the above).

Canon 1872 will be up for review, the aim is to get a balance of major canons/canon segments, but without increasing the amount of those prompts too much. The last two rounds have seen a large decrease in the ratio of kink prompts compared to the total pool (something that's being corrected for this round, via increasing number of kink prompts for those who opt in) and there's a lot of canons that I'd like to add, haha! Though, hmm, thinking about it as I write this, maybe we should start rotating out the bigger ones, rotating in smaller ones, treating it more like the other prompts that go in/out... hmm... actually, you know what, the more I think about it the more I like that idea. Okay, this needs more thought.

Okay, after looking at the list some more:

I like the canons idea. Also, 616 has two squares now, MCU has three, you could just have one 616 and one MCU for all eras instead? Back to 1872, I guess "Canon: Secret Wars Battleworlds" is also an option (taking a page from AO3's book here).

"Batteries not included" and "betrayed by technology" are kinda similar, ditto for "cuddle pollen" and "cuddling". There's both "groundhog day" and "time travel"; also "sleep is for the weak" and "trouble sleeping".

Idk, the issue I always have when looking at the list are "well these things are similar but not exactly the same", like "Good Guys Gone Bad" and "AU: supervillains" and "Mistaken for Baddies" and "one lab accident from supervillainy" and "I fought the law".

And the thing is, I like all of these prompts I listed now as similar to others, but imagine getting a card with all the quasi-villains ones *shrugs*

How about adding "vampires" since we have "ghosts" and "zombies" as separate squares?

No specific comments, but this is excellent and noted :)

I would argue that time loop and time travel are very different tropes though.

I like having the different eras of canon too.

For the image prompts, would it be okay to submit our own art??

More than OK! That is exactly what is intended for people who are doing art fills. Aaaaand I really need to put this one in the FAQ for next round's rules, thank you for the reminder!

Just to make sure we're on the same page--I'm talking about submitting new prompts for the comm to use for bingo. You guys like fanart for those too?

Ooooh, I see what you mean. Sorry, I misunderstood. For bingo we're not using fanart for prompts, but if you're willing to draw stuff for the comm we're almost always looking for more artists to draw stuff, including bingo prize banners!
