This is an older story (from 2013), but ever since magic recced it to me some time ago, I have sworn to take every opportunity to rec it further, because it instantly became one of my all-time favorites out of everything I've ever read in any fandom:

The Mountain (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1040860), by Jay Tryfanstone (MCU, rated Teen, mountaineering AU, 36.4k)
Summary: Sixty-two days without a single blade of grass, four hundred pitons, twenty-three stoves, six down-filled suits and a moth-eaten bow-tie. Summer 1968: Tony Stark vs. The Mountain.

This story is just everything that I love. All the adventurous mountaineering, with a ton of detail that at least to me seems very real (not being a proper mountaineer but a mere wall/rock climber). It feels like it could be an actual description of a real climb that happened, and yet, everybody is very much in character - complete with Tony trying to hide heart issues from the rest of the team, which, okay, I'll admit is always a good selling point for me, but by no means the only one here! Also, there's some cute Steve/Tony, too! If you ever feel like taking a trip to the Himalayas to climb K2 with the Avengers, this is *the* fic.
