Rec Week: Weekly Wednesday

Banner by woadin.
Action! Adventure! Throwing themselves in front of bullets for the other! Daring rescues! Desparate escapes after the villain of the week has tied them up with rope/cables/tentacles, where they gaze into each other's eyes and muse about how brave/courageous/compassionate the other is... Weekly Wednesday, like the comics that come out on this day, is about action/adventure and all of the above in your fave fanworks!
Note: Please mark major warnings for your recs, and if you have time, let us know why you’re reccing it!
Schedule and links to previous days:
Funny Friday, July 1st: Humour / Fluff
Throbbing Thursday, July 7th: Porn / Romance
Weekly Wednesday, July 13th: Action / Adventure
(Not So) Terrible Tuesday, July 19th: Hurt/Comfort
Mournful Monday, July 25th: Dark / Angst
Synergy Sunday, July 31st: Works created for cap-ironman community challenges, exchanges, and bangs
Wacky Saturday, July ???: Keep an eye out for this rogue day of the week, for all works too wonderful to be confined to a sensible schedule!
For anyone new to rec week you can find out more at our Rec Week intro post.
This year we have three ways to share recs:
1) comment on the day's livejournal post (this one here!)
2) reply to the day's tumblr post
3) post to tumblr with the tags #capimrecweek2016 and the day of the week (#weeklywednesday for today)
Have fun! And remember that you can go back and add more recs to the previous days if you missed out or thought of something new, even after a new day has rolled over. While we especially encourage works produced in the last year, old favourites are welcome too!

Summary: Steve was gone.
Tony was all alone in the dark, the blackness of the damp, rock-walled corridor only occasionally broken by the fluttering fluorescent lamps in the ceiling.
He wasn’t afraid of the dark. An abandoned mine was by no means the scariest environment he’d ended up in. Still, he’d have been crazy not to be afraid of what lurked in these shadows.
REALLY enjoyed this! I haven't been creeped out in a while, and it was fun to read before bed. :P I never knew what to expect. By the way, there's a bunch of hurt/comfort in it too for those of you who love H/C. Oh, and because this is a bit dark/creepy, mind the notes that Vel put on the fic!

The Mountain (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1040860), by Jay Tryfanstone (MCU, rated Teen, mountaineering AU, 36.4k)
Summary: Sixty-two days without a single blade of grass, four hundred pitons, twenty-three stoves, six down-filled suits and a moth-eaten bow-tie. Summer 1968: Tony Stark vs. The Mountain.
This story is just everything that I love. All the adventurous mountaineering, with a ton of detail that at least to me seems very real (not being a proper mountaineer but a mere wall/rock climber). It feels like it could be an actual description of a real climb that happened, and yet, everybody is very much in character - complete with Tony trying to hide heart issues from the rest of the team, which, okay, I'll admit is always a good selling point for me, but by no means the only one here! Also, there's some cute Steve/Tony, too! If you ever feel like taking a trip to the Himalayas to climb K2 with the Avengers, this is *the* fic.
