Preview image: Avengers/Invaders
Hi!
I'm now so looking forward Avengers/Invaders mini that will start soon.
Marvel announced that in this story, Tony will meet Steve again, but this Steve is who came from past timeline, said this--
AVENGERS/INVADERS # 1
The Story: Legends Live Again.
The original Invaders (Captain America , Bucky , Human Torch , Toro , and the Sub-Mariner) return in a twelve issue maxi-series by the award winning team behind EARTH X, Justice and Project Superpowers .The greatest super-team of World War II finds themselves transported from the battlefields of the Second World War to a future they never imagined! Now, the Invaders find themselves confronted by two teams of Avengers who want desperately to believe these heroes are who they say they are, while Tony Stark faces his greatest challenge since the Civil War as he must deal with the “return” of Steve Rogers. Confronted by a world they barely recognize, the Invaders will have to show two teams of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes just what kind of power, courage and sheer determination it took to defeat the forces of unrelenting evil in the Twentieth century. In fact…they may just have to do it again in the Twenty-First.
Marvel already had revealed some preview images and I found this.

Um... Director Stark...? Sir...?
...Okay, I know you love him so much but...! *want to hug him*

Oh yes it's a return of the classic invaders team. Whole team come to this era and Tony can see only one person...Steve Rogers.
And now my brain is filled many "what if?" For example...what if in the end, past!Steve don't want to come back to his past and say he want to be with Tony forever?
--Maybe Tony will somehow force to him to come back to the past because that to be needed to the world. And later of that, he may cry on his own.;___;

thing is if they are characterizing at war Steve correctly he may not immediately /hate/ Tony. He would pragmatically approach the issue and why certain aspects are flawed with the Registration system.
Emotional jackhammer does not necessitate fighting.. I almost think it would be worse to briefly disagree and then work alongside for the duration as it would briefly return the loss and make it new when Steve leaves... if he leaves.
I am angling on the gambit that this is an almost about to get ice frozen alternate realities Cap or something like an invaders- exiles team if this is the case Cap would be able to stay... so even if it may lessen the impact of the time travel. I don't think unless they pull a "and the past people forgot everything they knew of the future thanks to deus ex Emma (insert preferred mind changing person here)."
That would have canonical implications as well and would mean Steve knew and understood the basis of the civil war before it ever happened same with the submariner and it really doesn't jive. So, same history up until that point AU time travelling- that would allow them to impact events and add interest as to whether Steve would choose to remain in this world or return to his own.

my poor poor tony!
i can't think of this as a good thing ;_; because:
1)this steve won't have any memories of current!tony and
2)current!tony won't be allowed to KEEP past!steve...
it's like a cruel zombie ghost of a man he loved, coming to hate on him and then run away into the past yet again... if THIS doesn't break tony... let me rephrase that... this is going to break tony.

No, I can't think of this as a good thing, neither.;____; Poor Tony!!
1)this steve won't have any memories of current!tony and
2)current!tony won't be allowed to KEEP past!steve...
Yes!;__; past!Steve must come back to his past and Tony lose Steve AGAIN! It's way too painful!*already crying*
It may break Tony...but I don't want Tony to break! Please Marvel...don't hurt Tony too much!
I want to hope that past!Steve somehow start to love Tony. But if it would be done, he still must go home, must leave Tony in his grief and loneliness.
I really don't want past!Steve to just hurt Tony and go back his era. He may hurt Tony in first place (oh, he already is hurting Tony as his appearance), but I want Steve to learn better than that.

I'm pretty sure that Tony telling past!Steve everything he didn't have a chance to say and then sending him back to the past would break the time-space continuum. I'm not sure I care. It's comic books; they're going to break spacetime anyway.

No, it's not creepy at all. I post that preview scene not because it's creepy, but it's so painful, sad and love. I especially love Tony's right side's small panel, just showing Steve's eye. Because we already know how Tony admire Steve's eye.

If that will happen, I hope Steve will understand Tony's word. I don't want Steve to just distrust Tony and hurt him again.
I'm sure someday recent!Steve will come back from his death, and he can make up with Tony. But in this past!Steve event...? I have no idea what will happen, how writers treat past!Steve and Tony.
Anyway I'm looking forward to see that.

In an interview, it was said that the meeting between these two is going to be 'an emotional jackhammer'. I took that to mean that the emotional aspect of it would be: "WWII!Cap is going to despise Tony, and Tony is going to
kill himselfbe more suicidal than usualsnaphave a mental breakdowncontinue to be extremely depressedbecause the writers can't do anything really extreme to him, like kill him, because the movie is coming out."I foresee crying. Lots of crying. It might take place off-panel, but I can't see crying not happening. Maybe the Confession again, except this time to a Cap who isn't dead. Possibly a shattering of the time-space continuum. Kang may or may not be involved somehow because he's apparently the only dude who can move through the timestream without fucking it up (according to Marvel, anyway, who is notorious for not following its own rules).
Tony is on the edge. If this doesn't shove him over... well. It's going to shove him over. Or I am going to kidnap every Marvel writer and force them to consult a psychologist before writing anything more involving Tony.
That said, I can't imagine that kind of pain; losing the person you loved more than life in a horrible conflict where you both left the most important things unsaid, and then seeing him alive again and being hit with all kinds of conflicting emotions--the largest of which is likely hope--but then being hit with the news that he's not the person you know and he has no idea who you are, and he probably isn't going to want anything to do with you once he knows what's been going on. You're nothing to him.
Also, I can't find the massive Steve montage creepy, because that's what comic book artists draw when they want to be dramatic. I mean, Tony's not normal, but I'm pretty sure anyone in his position would have gotten a scene like that. Not to mention he talks to computers in his mind and those are all computer screens -- the system could, technically, just be reacting to the image he's seeing without his direction. He'd certainly be in enough shock to be throwing out strong mental signals.

Maybe I read the interview, too. But I couldn't see how the writers would write the scene, or WWII!Steve and Tony. It's because I don't know the writers of this mini well. So...it's a little scary thing to me.
I foresee crying. Lots of crying. It might take place off-panel, but I can't see crying not happening.
Yes, me, too. Poor Tony... he is already like crying in that panel of preview!

Oh that's great idea, really!

Yes! I don't think that's creepy either. It's really...painful scene.
Tony is surely on the edge and I think he is now force himself to not mention that. Because If he face his own grief, that grief takes him far away, maybe he can't come back, it would kill him. So, he can't face the fact that Steve is nowhere or he couldn't make up with Steve and lost him forever. But sadly, he must face that every day. He can't get away from that.
That kind of conflicts are already there in Tony's mind but here this comes... Marvel is so cruel to Tony.
Once I've doubt that they want Tony to drink again because of the movie.Tony is like...already threw his heart to the sea with Steve's coffin. But in that panel, it's like his hiding feelings, buried heart are rush to him like tsunami.
I want WWII!Steve to get to know who is Tony Stark and want him to learn how important Tony is to him.
Because even if Steve have no memory of him, no history with him, Tony can't don't love him. Because Tony just love him so much, more than anything.
WWII!Steve who doesn't know anything about Tony meets Tony who just lost his Steve...this idea of story is painful but I want to know what will happen.*I want to expect slash possibility* If writers lead this story great, I would love this mini. But till that, I'll see...
