2016 Holiday Exchange: Opening Soon!

It’s nearing that time of the year again… the start of the Holiday Exchange! Keep your eyes peeled for when the challenge opens on AO3:

October 14th: Sign-ups Open
October 22nd: Sign-ups Close
October 23rd-31st: Mods Match Participants
October 31st: Assignments Sent Out
December 18th: Assignments Due
December 18th-25th: Last Minute Pinch Hits Created
December 26th: Start of Gift Reveals
January 6th (approximate): Author/Artists Revealed

Participants will create and receive fic (minimum of 1000 words) or art (traditional or digital medium; no manips, gifsets, playlists, or vids) based off prompts given. We’ll have three kinds of prompts this year: plot ideas, short prompts, and an optional ‘create art for my fic/fic for my art’ prompt. So start brainstorming some fanworks you’d like to receive!

Full details and sign-up instructions (including an incredibly extensive FAQ) for the exchange will be available on the 14th.

This year we also will be bringing back the old Community Gifts, where everyone, regardless of whether or not they are participating in the main exchange, can submit prompts anonymously and/or choose a prompt to fill. Fanworks created to fill one of these community prompts will be considered a ‘gift to the community’ and, if submitted before December 26th, will be included in and promoted with the main exchange collection.

October 17th: Community Gifts prompt collection begins
November 1st: Community Gifts prompting closes; prompt collection posted
December 26th: Community Gifts due (for inclusion in the main exchange collection)
December 26th - January 6th: Community Gifts are revealed along with other entries in the main exchange
January 6th (approximate): Creators of Community Gifts are revealed along with main exchange creators
