2016 Cap-IronMan Community Gifts prompt submission is open!

This year, in conjunction with the Holiday Exchange, we’re bringing back an option from a few years ago: Community Gifts.
We will be collecting a list of anonymous Steve/Tony prompts submitted by community members. Then on November 1st the list will be posted for everyone to view. Anyone can submit fills for these prompts, but they will be considered gifts to the entire Cap-Ironman Community, rather than to any individual. Works created for these prompts, if submitted to the 2016 Holiday Exchange collection by December 26th, will be revealed and promoted as part of the exchange collection.
Anyone can submit prompts to or fill prompts from the Community Gifts prompt pool, whether or not you’re participating in the main exchange. There is no sign-up required to participate in Community Gifts, and you don’t have to commit to creating a Gift in order to submit a prompt. This does mean that, unlike the main exchange, any submitted community gift prompts are not guaranteed to receive a gift.
Click here to submit a prompt to the Community Prompts pool
October 17th: Community Gifts prompt collection begins
November 1st: Community Gifts prompting closes; prompt collection posted
December 26th: Community Gifts due (for inclusion in the main exchange collection)
December 26th - January 6th: Community Gifts are revealed along with other entries in the main exchange
January 6th (approximate): Creators of Community Gifts are revealed along with main exchange creators
Rules:
- Prompts can be either as short as a simple phrase or link, or as long as two paragraphs.
- You can submit multiple prompts
- Fills should be new and created solely for the 2016 Holiday Exchange Community Gifts, and not for any other fandom event
- If you are a participant in the exchange we ask that you complete your exchange gift before creating a community gift
Example prompts:
The following examples have already been added to the list, no need to resubmit them.
Canon: Any
Prompt Description: Tony paints his armour green and red for Christmas. Steve investigates.
Canon: 616
Prompt Description: Something based on this: http://images.comiccollectorlive.com/covers/7b5/7b5ed662-b316-4f8b-8362-c8a50f11df5d.jpg
Canon: 616 or Marvel Adventures
Prompt Description: Steve and Tony are about to go on their first date when Doctor Doom attacks, kidnapping Tony for a romantic getaway of his own. Steve must venture into Latveria to save his love before Doctor Doom seduces Tony with particle physics and quantum mechanics.
Canon: Any
Prompt Description: ‘Deserving?’ by Serj Tankian - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcpYXsyxvmE
Canon: 616, MA or EMH.
Prompt Description: Tony and Steve's wedding. Of course being them it doesn't go smoothly. Let’s see the ridiculousness that is their lives spill over into their wedding whether it is crazy plots, villians, people posing as relatives, mind control, someone's powers going on the fritz, people coming back from the dead, interruption by someone who declares some other ritual must be done first or any number of other crazy things that happen regularly to the Avengers in any combination the author desires. Their wedding is basically a comedy of errors.
Bonus points: For not making it an angst fest nor super fluffy. They are both self-confident, grounded individuals (for the most part), so no thinking of calling the wedding off, floating hearts (unless it happens literally due some of the craziness above), feeling unworthy, OOC romantic sappiness or breaking up with the other. They can get angry, exasperated, worried, nervous, or irritated, but in the end they are happily, confidently in love and know the other loves them too.
Community Gifts FAQs:
(FAQ for the main exchange is here)
Q. Is there an event tag I can follow on tumblr?
A. Yes, we’ll be tagging all event posts with #capim exchange.
Q. I want to do gen friendship, is that okay?
A. Sure. This comm also welcomes fics that focus on a non-slashy relationship between Steve and Tony, as long as the focus is on the two of them.
Q. I’m participating in the exchange as well. Will prompts in my Exchange request letter be shown in the list of Community Prompts?
A. No. Only prompts specifically submitted to the community prompt pool will be included in the community prompts. Exchange request letters will be seen only by the mods and your gift-giver.
Q. I’m participating in the exchange as well. Can I submit one of my own prompts from my exchange request letter to the list of Community Prompts?
A. No, please let your gift-creator have first shot at all prompts from your letter. You can submit prompts from previous years if you are not repeating them in this year’s letter.
Q. I’m participating in the exchange as well. I like more than one of the prompts in the request letter of the person I was assigned to. Can I submit the ones I’m not creating a fan work for?
A. Please don’t, as that spoils the surprise for your recipient of which of their prompts you’ll be creating for. If you like multiple prompts of theirs, you are welcome to provide your recipient with multiple gifts. ;)
Q. Can I request a ‘create fic for my art/art for my fic’ prompt, like the optional prompt in the main Exchange?
A. No, please keep your prompt anonymous.
Q. Oh no! I made a mistake in my prompt but accidently already submitted it! Is there any way I can fix it?
A. No, due to the nature of the prompts being anonymous there is no way to tell who submitted which prompt. Please make sure to check over your prompt for mistakes before you submit it. If you think you really messed it up, you can submit a corrected version of the prompt the same way you’d submit a new prompt.
Q. Is there a minimum word count for Community Gifts?
A. Unlike the main exchange, there is no minimum for the Community Gifts.
Q. Can more than one person create a fill for a particular prompt?
A. Yes. There's no claiming of prompts for Community Gifts; so long as you submit your fill to the collection by December 26th, you're golden. If that results in more than one fill for a particular prompt, then we view it as the more, the merrier!
Q. Can I create fills for multiple prompts?
A. Yes!
Q. I want to submit a fill but I don't have an Ao3 account.
A. Email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com and we'll get an AO3 invite for you so that you can create an account. Due to the use of the AO3 platform, all fillers must have an AO3 account.
Q. How do I submit my fill?
A. See the guide posted here.
Q. If I create a Community Gift, do I have to adhere strictly to the prompt I picked?
A. No, because the fills are meant to be gifts to the community, instead of gifts to a specific person, you can deviate from a community prompt if you’d like. Please note that this is different from the main Exchange, where you should adhere to your recipient’s prompt.
Q. I defaulted on another event and am not eligible to participate in this year’s Holiday Exchange. Can I still participate in Community Gifts?
A. Yes. Since there’s no commitment in advance, everyone is eligible to participate in Community Gifts, both by submitting prompts and/or by creating gifts to fill prompts.
Q. It’s one hour before the due-date on December 26th and I need just ONE MORE DAY to complete this epic fill. Can I have an extension?
A. Please email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com with the subject ‘Holiday Exchange-Community Gifts’.
Q. Somebody created a Community Gift based on a prompt I suggested. Is it OK to de-anon myself and say that I suggested the prompt?
A. Sure. However, please remember that community gifts are intended to be gifts to the entire community, and not one particular person, so the resulting work won't be gifted to you individually and may vary somewhat from the prompt.
Q. I have a question that hasn't been answered here.
A. Email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com, send the cap-ironman tumblr an ask, or leave a comment on this LJ post.
Q. Can I fill my own prompt?
A. Yes, although we'd like to encourage you to fill prompts by other people too!
Q. Can I create a gift that is a sequel to an existing fic/art?
A. The gift should be able to stand on its own without needing to consume any other fanwork in order for it to make sense and fill the prompt. If the gift makes sense and fills the prompt without needing to have read/viewed the other work, then it's fine if the two works are related.

Prompt submission is now closed (and I just put up the prompt list), so, it's too late to answer your question, but in such cases it's usually allowed, although individual event rules are up to the particular event mods.
