Fic - Freeze Tag
It may be slightly OOC but I was aiming for fun and in trying to work at some dialogue.
Freeze Tag
Captain America stood at the edge of the New Avengers training grounds- recently arranged by Stark Industries for the purpose of combat exercizes. He'd been so excited about it that he may have gone a bit overboard with training activities which in turn led to this current situation. With his strongest heroic posture in place Steve began to explain;
“Team building exercizes should involve tactics, agility, strength-”
“This does! Kind of...” Peter trailed off, twisting is leg unnaturally while fidgeting with his hands.
Captain America was not one to be smug about getting his way, but he may have found a slight smile creeping up at Spiderman's transparancy and the idea that he could stop this nonsense right now.
That was until he saw Iron Man in full armor, faceplate lifted and arms crossed decisively.
“ Steve, we agreed to letting each of the Avengers participate in planning training sessions as a morale booster. You were on board with this 100% if I recall, relieved somebody would finally give you a hand with this so you could focus on more important things.”
Obviously, Tony had him beat on this one. He had agreed after Tony had brought up something the increased training had diminished. It was just Peter's idea- he would just have to explain it to him.
“I know Tony, but what he is suggesting, we are grown men!” Steve did not whine as he said this, Captain America does not sulk, although he may take on a lilting coercive tone on occasion.
“ Hey, right here! This is my turn for choosing the gameeehh... I, ah, mean training exercize!”
Pete waved from his position hanging upside-down from a treetop.
“Stark! 'Game'! You heard him, this is important we can't waste our time like this it is unnacceptable. We are heroes and we need to take ourselves seriously otherwise civilians could be hurt. Why don't we redo Logan's run from last week?” Steve was on Peter's slip like a dog on a bone. He could almost hear Tony's agreement forthcoming...
“ No. This isn't up for discussion Cap, you are currently the only Avenger protesting the activity.”
Well, apparently not. Steve knew when to accept defeat, when his own lover took sides against him. At least this was the first time something like this had happened... and perhaps Tony was right about adding some extra playfulness into their regimen. His expression softened slightly and his shield lowered from it's ominous placement. Peter caught the cue and within moments was on the ground again with his arms holding his own excitedly while saying;
“Yeah, and trust me once we get started you'll see the endurance, agility, speed and creative thinking needed to play Avengers Freeze Tag!”
“Pete, its' alright set the teams and get everyone ready. Tony and I'll be over in a moment.”
As Peter headed outside to prepare the other Avengers and rehash the rules, Steve walked over to Tony.
He grabbed his head hard and pressed his lips into Tony's. Iron Man's body pressed into his own.
“So, want to skip out?” Cap smiled as he used a breathy tone he knew set Tony off.
“No. I wouldn't dare be blamed for Captain America playing hooky. Anyways, who knows- you might just enjoy it.”
There was something about the way Tony grinned as he said this that tingled something at the back of Steve's mind but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Before he could specify just what he'd enjoy more than this farce- the Avengers called them over.
This was it, time to play:
“ Tag.”
Steve shrugged, perhaps Peter wasn't completely off-base with the technical skill that could be applied to freeze tag, it had been sheer hell keeping from being tagged before Logan had been caught.
“Steve, it is freeze tag- that means you don't move.” Iron man's metallic voice belayed his humour at the situation. His metal arms reached and shifted Steve's until he was in the exact position he had been in when he was tagged.
“Now stay still. Remember what Spiderman said about this being a game of endurance as much as anything else. You wouldn't want people to think you were finished off so easily by a simple game of freeze tag.”
Cold metal fingers slipped across the exposed cleft of his chin and Steve could not surpress a shudder. They could hear voices in the distance and a subtle growl that could be Logan protesting his having been caught. It was good to hear the Avengers laugh again... it would be even better to hear Tony's.
The mask lifted, Tony's hair mussed and eyes sparkling he stepped forward and embraced Cap. As Steve reached forward to hold him back he found himself shifted into place. A hoarse whisper in his ear “hold still”. He had almost forgotten about the game. It was just like Tony to make what would be a paltry test of his endurance a challenge. Gritting his teeth and breaking a smile Captain America did his best to hold the position.

"Stark! 'Game'! You heard him!" ---- you can HEAR the sulk in Cap's voice lol.
Also- i dunno... i think that IRON MAN may have a bit of an advantage at Freeze Tag what his the metal suit and all ^________^
i love how Cap's says to Tony "God... *eye roll* wanna go have sex?"
