Steve/Tony Fandom Turns Ten

Hey, so maybe it's silly to assign a "birthday" to a fandom, but The Confession hit the shelves March 14th, 2007, and the ten year anniversary is fast approaching.

Browsing the Steve/Tony tag on marvel_slash, it's obvious people were shipping the pairing before The Confession but there were only 3 explicitly Steve/Tony fics and a few pretty great fanart posts. The first(?) multi-chapter longfic, Resurrection, Reconstruction, and Redemption started going up a few months after The Confession.

So I'd like to celebrate the ten year anniversary as more than just the anniversary of a particularly angst-filled an poignant ship moment; I'd like to celebrate it as one of the main sparks that ignited this pairing's engine.

Would anyone be up for a cap-ironman party on or around the 14th? It could be one giant post, or a combination of the following:
-comment fic post/kinkmeme
-party post for mingling and sharing favorite gifs, scans, recs, etc.,
-friend meme
-chat room
-starting a tag on tumblr for fanworks created for or during this event, maybe "stevetonyturnsten" or "stonyturns10" or some-such?

If anyone is into this idea, would you be willing to share with your fellow Steve/Tony fans who might not be watching this community?

Please let me know if anyone is into this idea. I've been feeling a resurgence of Steve/Tony love in my heart and it would be lots of fun to share it with a group of people. I might even throw together a vid.

But YEEEEES, I love the idea. I'd be totally up for any or all of these options to celebrate!

Aww yeah, I don't know if The Confession will ever NOT make my heart hurt. I'm so glad you're into the idea of celebrating it!

Thank you for offering to point people towards this and follow up posts. I've been pretty disconnected from the fandom lately, so I don't really know where to post except maybe the "stony" tag on tumblr, hah. No rush!

Yes, we have new slashy moments list moments in the pipeline, I was just too busy between HE and suddenly having Bingo on my hands during Remix. So an update was going to happen during this month anyway and this is of course a good time. XD

I would LOVE to read that! I follow a couple Steve/Tony fans on tumblr so I think I've gotten a good sense of their respective storylines, but the only Marvel comic I've actually kept up with is Scarlet Witch, so I'm missing out on a lot of potential Steve/Tony slashiness. Plus it's always fun to read another person's interpretation of subtext, whether or not it's a storyline I"m familiar with.

I think I would try to get someone on board with that, so we can cover MCU and cartoons too. So much has happened!

Also I just realize the Steve/Tony page on fanlore makes it look like this fandom just stopped in 2013 and we should change that. Maybe we can drum up some interest in doing that for the anniversary.

At least it doesn't still list the old crew as comm mods, which it did for like three years after we quit.

Yes, well, we mods got proactive about the page for the comm and decided that THAT part was up to us. -.- Teyke revised it at some point last year and then I did after the recent change... because otherwise... nothing would have happened. But the pairing page... I have no idea where to start with that and if I should invest the time and energy. (This comm is enough most days...)

Pretty recent, yes! That is from Civil War II: The Oath - which is the official reversal of The Confession with Steve talking to Tony's body this time. Like, you know, a 10 year anniversary comic, just evil. :P

Nice, I can't wait to see what you all come up with! And I like Mucca's idea of starting a prompt post today or tomorrow to start drumming up interest in the event and giving people some time to fill prompts before the 14th (or whatever date we choose. I'm still not sure if a weekday or weekend is better. The 14th is a Tuesday).

I like the idea of starting the prompt meme early to give people some time.

We could start with that now and promote it and then have a party post on LJ and imzy and a sort of tumblr party on the 14th with recs, talking about what everyone loves about the pair, meta, fanworks, gif spams and whatever. We need just to decide on a tag. Maybe we can make a banner and then start promoting. *ponders*

Although I usually hate the "stony" portmanteau, I acknowledge that it's the main tag on tumblr, and I think "stonyturns10" is pretty succinct. Or maybe "stony birthday" or something.. hmm...

Mostly so I don't forget: The ten different periods one was: '64, '70, '76, '82, '88, '94, '00, '06, '12, '17.

There's also ten different universes, as an idea, like 616, MCU, Ults, MA:A, AvAc, EMH, AA, 1872, 3490, and EMH. Or whatever the person's choice was. I don't suppose it matters.

Well, thank you for running this comm! I know the fandom shift to tumblr has changed a lot of things, but it's so nice that you and your mod team have kept this place going so that making a post like this was possible.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who is super excited! All day at work today I was happily thinking about this. ♥
