Summary:

Hi there!

About the tags, your solution is actually very good! The tagset on DW is the same as in our LJ comm, and you can view them all here, but dreamwidth interface just doesn't let you choose them from a drop-down list the way LJ does, so you have to type everything manually.
You can switch to the beta version of new post page here and this one allows you to choose tags from a list, but it is a beta and there might be other unforeseen problems.

I've been using the beta for a while now and it's been very stable. The downside so far is that even after years it still does not have the Rich Text Editor, so only the html editor works. If you crosspost and you're not comfortable with html the easiest way is to just copy over. :P

I am exceedingly comfortable with HTML. I never use the rich text editor (I'm old enough to absentmindedly type a MSDos command prompt occasionally) so that sounds pretty good to me.
