Look, I believe we are all dying and screaming after today's issue of SE! (Personally, I'm not quite sure what to do with myself when canon's writing my fics for me - I love it!).

You know there wasn't anything I didn't love about this.

The way Tony went back and Steve went after him specifically, the way Steve was all "I talked this over with my people and it's good that YOU ARE REALLY YOU" and Tony GIVING ANOTHER BLOODY CONFESSION - incidentially admitting he REMEMBERS THAT CONFESSTION - and telling Steve how much he wanted to save him.

I'M BASICALLY 10 EMOTIONS WEARING A TRENCH COAT, DISGUISED AS HUMAN AT THIS POINT!!!

TONY breaking from the group /knowing/ he would find Steve and Steve seeking Tony OUT! RUTHLESSLY EFFICIENT STEVE STOPPING, just because Tony said stop, said wait!! (Also, I love that the panels HAVE STEVE literally frozen for Tony's entire emotional outreach, like he can't move, like HE DOESN'T WANT TO).

Also, also, apparently the assumption is that Tony actually set the bomb that Elise tried to protect Steve from?? Because Tony seemed to have a plan when he broke away from the others, and then the Hulk began to lose colour/ fade, so Tony may have something absorbing and redistributing the gamma radiation to create a bomb. WHICH MEANS TONY MAY HAVE BEEN STALLING for time during his speech, being entirely earnest, but also subtly manipulative (which is such a good flavour of Tony)!?

I'm not sure about the bomb, I think it's possible it was his idea? (Like who else's). But tbh I AM IN TOO MANY FEELS ABOUT /TONY REMEMBERING THE CONFESSION/ to fully process anything else bc NOT ONLY DOES HE REMEMBER THE CONFESSION, HE REPEATS IT BECAUSE STEVE NEEDS TO KNOW!!!!!!! i can't.

—I'M A PUDDLE OF FEELING, because now we have Tony who remembers saying "It wasn't worth it", and he's finally letting Steve KNOW the answer he gave to that long-ago asked question, that Steve never got a reply to.

We don't know. I don't think we'll get a detailed answer to that, although I would love one! (Quite honestly with these things it might just be a case of comic writer having forgotten about mind-wipe adding accidental depth. XD BUT I'LL TAKE IT!!! HE KNOWS OR HE REMEMBERS! AND I'LL TAKE IT!!!)

anyway: i sure hope that elisa person tried to magic steve away from the bomb and accidentally magiced them both away, so now they're stranded together somwehere.

dumb idea for how he remembers: he deleted his brain enough that biological brain couldn't access it anymore, but the downloaded conciousness on computer works differently and can access the "corrupted" files, so he kind of is maybe missing a few seconds, but the rest works, while his bio brain just went "not all ok, not gonna play it then"

It's also a big 'damn you' to Superior Iron Man, IMHO, because there Steve did nothing to get Tony back, but worst of all, he didn't even aknowledge that Tony wasn't Tony anymore

This is how much I loved this scene- I just spilled water all over the issue as I was trying to make sure I got that quote right, and my first thought was "I'll buy a new one." Not "damn, this sucks." Just complete and total acceptance that I will happily spend 5 dollars for this again.

The "My hero" got to me like something fierce. I mean we all know that it's always been true, but this was just THE BEST SPEECH.

And it was so very Tony! Everything about it just fits so perfectly with his characterization.
