After the Death of Spider-Man event in Ultimates, Steve will apparently be doing some serious angsting. Bryan Hitch has drawn a lovely cover for Ultimate Fallout #6. Steve, his cowl, his shield, his butt. A classic image.

Fear Itself is chugging along; I won't lie, I've no idea what's happening. Hammers are involved. Iron Man is fighting some guy in Paris?

There's an unlettered preview of Captain America Corps and no, before you ask only the Steve Rogers version is eligible to meet the cap/ironman requirement for this comm. ;) Alternate universe versions of him are still fair game, though! This series has Steve, Bucky, American Dream, US Agent, and Commander A. (What no Isaiah-Cap and American Eagle? Lost opportunities.) And by the cut of Steve's mask, it's WWII Cap but the modern Bucky, which should be fascinating.

A preview of Captain America #618, wherein Steve yells and flails at Gyrich. Heh.

I liked little bits of it (there were some nice visuals), but overall? Not so much.

I'm avoiding it because the OT3er in me rebels at the idea of a PotC movie without Elizabeth and Will.

I admit, I was kind of glad that they weren't in this one. As much as I love them, the last two movies really didn't do them justice. :( Better not to see it strung up and hacked at any more.

At this point, I have the vague impression that the entire plot of what remains of Ult-verse revolves around various panels of Steve's ass. That, and 20 foot tall flying vampires.

There is a revamp by Hickmen in August. I'm looking forward to it.

A revamp as in starting over with everybody alive again? Or as in a change in writers on the title and new storyline?

The reasons I don't follow Ult-verse are pretty much "brain tumour, brain tumour, brain tumour, and Mark Millar," so a do-over that removes Millar from the equation would be relevant to my interests.

The details seem vague now, but we'll see in August.

I'd totally buy that. But no, the last issue had Steve cradling an injured Spider-Man and telling him when he grows up he's going to be the best hero of them all,(I'm loving the Ultimates' interaction with Peter) Steve hovering over a sick Tony and helping him up (true love is comforting them while they vomit), and Tony freaking out cause he hurt Blade. "I thought he had superpowers! I think I broke him!" It was proper adorable and hilarious. And there's an Ultimate Scott Land now, and he's a sweetheart so far.

I'm afraid Tony still has his tumour, though, so probably still not for you. :/

That sounds intriguing (especially Ult!Steve: h/c-y comforter of the sick and injured), but yeah, it's best if I stay faaaaar away from the brain tumour thing.

I'm not sure I could handle the killing-off of Ultimate!Spidey, either. He's so cute and tiny in his solo title; it would be like reading about murdered puppies.

The interaction between the Ultimates and Spidey is precious. They did some mentoring of him over in his own title, and Steve was very stern about Spodey being Too Young (and Tony and Thor ganged up to tease him!). And Tony and Peter were amusingly inept at each other, because Tony has no clue how to train baby superheroes, and they commiserated over Cap disapproving of them. And then Steve took him to a graveyard, and Peter was all 'this is why I don't date Goth girls' and Steve gave him a lecture about how he was all young and irresponsible. And it made it that much more adorable when Peter got shot and was all D: now you think I'm an idiot and Steve was all "Are you kidding? When you grow up you're going to be the best of us all." so cute I really hope Peter makes it out alive. D:
