We all know how it is with movies: costs, contracts, production limitations, and of course, not every movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can feature our favorite characters. But in a connected universe, who can help but wonder? Where was Steve when this or that happened to Tony? What were Steve and Tony doing when Asgard got attacked? How would the MCU look if there had been more moments with Steve and Tony across movies?

The Cap-IronMan MCU 'What If?' Challenge

With the release of Infinity War, we'd like to invite the fandom to create and share their favorite 'What If' scenarios, exploring all the ways there could have been more of Steve and Tony and Steve/Tony in the MCU continuity!

This is your chance to reimagine the MCU as the Steve/Tony story you would have wanted to see!

All mediums are welcome and there are no minimum requirements! Rules and guidelines for the MCU ‘What If?’ Challenge, as well as all other anniversary-related events, can be found here:

HOW DOES IT WORK?

• Think of a concept that explores any of the possible "what if's" that put Steve and Tony in the movies they didn’t share with each other, or into the movies they weren’t in at all.


• Create your fanwork surrounding that premise.


• Add it to our The Cap-IronMan MCU 'What If?' Challenge Collection on AO3!

Can't think of a good "what if" idea? No time to create but are full of ideas you'd like to come to life? You can leave prompts and ideas and discuss concepts below! We will also have a comment thread where you can share recs for existing what-if works.



CREATING YOUR FILL

The creation period will run from now (April 27) to May 29. A masterlist of all fills created for the challenge will be posted on May 30.
The creation period has been extended to May 31. A masterlist of all fills created for the challenge will be posted along with the MCU STONY Bingo fills.

You may create as many fills as you like.

All fills must be:

• Set in the MCU and/or focused on the MCU versions of Steve and Tony (multiverse travel is permitted in any direction though)
• All works must be focused on Steve and Tony. Non-Steve/Tony relationships or moresomes involving other characters (who are not a version of Steve or Tony) are not allowed. The goal of our community and these challenges is to create more Steve/Tony content.

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK

Once you've finished your piece, you must submit it to our AO3 Collection. Only work posted to the collection by May 31st (in any timezone) will be included in the final round-up.

You may request an AO3 account here. If you fear you won't receive an invitation on time, please contact us at cap.im.events@gmail.com.

You can then share your work wherever you want. If you're sharing your piece on Tumblr, please use the #capimwhatifmcu tag among the first 5 tags, so we can reblog it.

You can go to the Badge Claims post to pick up your badge for completing the challenge by leaving a new comment with the following information:

• Your username
• The link to your work (or links if you've made multiple pieces)
