Comic Discussion?

First off, love the community!! A lot.

And now, getting to the point of my post...

I finished Avengers/Invaders #2 today, and I got to thinking that a comics discussion post on this comm might be kind of fun. (And helpful, because like... how often does Tony and, to some extent, Steve, appear in the Marvel universe now?)

So I was wondering if anyone was actually interested. Maybe something like weekly or monthly discussion posts?

Personally, I think it would be pretty fun. But that depends on if people actually can/want to discuss things and how they play towards Tony and Steve. (Okay, I admit I might want to gush about angsty!Tony just a little...)

But I'm not sure how easy or convenient it could be though. Since there is a lot going on -- just thinking off the top of my head, Avengers/Invaders, Secret Invasion, hopefully we get something from 1985, plus the Captain America and Iron Man titles -- it would be kind of easy to end up getting spoiled for something you really didn't want to know yet. But maybe it could work?

But yeah, thought I might as well post this and see what others thought. Comments? Ideas? :)

I told myself I was done reading comics for the night. So I skimmed.
And my reaction is pretty much the same as yours. Except, you know.. throw in some more !!! and a little JDKLSFJKLSDF.

I have to admit I much like the idea, but I am for the most part a Tpb buyer so things like Avengers/Invaders I will be buying when it is released as a tpb. * if I don't cave first*
So, while I think it is an awesome idea to go for I would reccomend the format be stating the issue and discussion post at the top and putting your specific comments on the issue behind a cut warn for spoilers- if there are any but otherwise unless Tro contradicts I think it is great and go for it.

Like, each issue with a separate discussion topic? I figured that'd be the safest bet, but I'd worry about how crowded things might get that way. XD

I have to wait until tomorrow, maybe Friday to get my comics ::pout:: But I think it would be cool to have a discussion on the comm every week or so. I like the idea of a post where we can discuss all the different relevant titles, which could probably lead to some good ideas/speculation/squee over what's happening to the chars across the board.

(As far as spoilers go, seeing another comment, and not to be rude to the person who commented on them or anything, but I feel that if a person is waiting for the TPB they're either willing to be spoiled or else should be intelligent enough not to need tons of spoiler warnings for a post that is obviously a weekly discussion of the comics, and can be assumed to feature new information.)

I mentioned it only as a courtesy I honeslt have no qualms about spoilers- I love them. However, for a general format because there are all kinds of comic buyers some only buy certain titles etc.. that we specify which comic we are discussing previous to a cut for both length and courtesy.

I said state the comic because if we did it as a once weekly maybe some of it will be on current comics, others on back issues.

There is alot to work from and discuss in the Steve/Tony fandom and it isn't always going to be a new issue, or maybe it will be something new referencing something older etc..

There can never be enough comics talk. People have suggested two options, weekly round up, or individual posts. I favour individual posts because not everyone will be reading issues at the same time. It's also easier to archive on an issue by issue basis. So if you're going back six months, and you want to know what people had to say about DoS # 25, it's easier to just go to a DoS25 thread, than a Week of... thread. I do see the advantages of a round up post - it's easier to talk about trends that way. But even in a large comm like scans_daily I don't find it difficult to carry on conversations across multiple posts.

I'd love to talk comics! I'm a newbie (well newbie for the Cap and Tony, I've been reading X-Men and Spiderman off and on for a while) and I'd love to talk to people and discuss what I'm reading and maybe get some recommendations on what other comics to buy.

Anyway, whatever is decided- I would definitely love to participate.
