When the void shouts back: surprise! There is no void!

Sometimes creating fan works can feel pretty lonely, especially because putting yourself and your work out there is daunting. And sometimes, it feels like you’re shouting into a void.
But that’s one of the reasons that the Big Bang is really neat — it’s collaborative!
While some teams may prefer to maintain the minimum level of contact, many chose to really take advantage of having a partner and work through the challenge together. The level of collaboration is of course up to you and your partner, but having someone there to join forces with you can make life a lot easier, and more fun! Even though a significant portion of your draft will be written by claims time, there is still all of October for you to put your heads together and expand on what’s written or introduce new ideas. Maybe your artist has a fascinating insight on an aspect of the story you want to work in. Maybe you have a specific moment that you want to see come to life in the art.
We encourage you to work as a team and share your creative ideas!
Each individual brings a unique perspective, and the collaboration between author and artist to bring a multidimensional work to life is one of the most amazing things about a Bang. So be creative, be encouraging, support each other and be as excellent as we know you all are!
In fandom, we definitely have a love of tropes and clichés. So we’re sure you won’t mind if we introduce one more. It takes a village to raise a child, and sometimes it takes a community to build a story. With a month left in the initial writing phase, maybe you’re already searching for someone to sound ideas off of, or look over part of a draft, or to help brainstorm. This is where the community comes in. If you are a creator, reach out! Find an alpha reader or a brainstorm buddy. If you’re not creating but you still love Steve/Tony, reach out! Offer to help, make yourself available, support someone who’s pushing their way through a draft.
It’s an incredibly important way to contribute, as having support and encouragement could mean the difference between finishing a work or not.
The Steve/Tony community is strong; full of wonderful, diverse people. Help each other out, communicate with your teammate, work together, make each other’s experience the best it can be! When you shout into the void, the void shouts back.
Join the Big Bang!
Running since 2011, the Cap-Iron Man Big Bang challenges the community's writers to create Steve/Tony-focused fic with a minimum of 25,000 words. Artists are then invited to create accompanying art! To sign up as a writer you need to send us your draft and summary by September 26th.
