steve and tony dissecting their whole relationship, the ruin of which is unsubtly mirrored by the wreak of avengers mansion? yes, please!

I love how absolutely unsubtle it is in that mirroring, but just like. Yesss, exactly, how it goes through their whole relationship, and how much everything they say reveals about them and how they see the other one and the two of them together and just . . . wow, yes. It really shaped how I see them and write their relationship, honestly.

it’s really my favorite kind of angst like this nostalgia about an easier past in the wake of a divide that seems so impossible to ever come back from... it’s about their relationship but also about the way they both perceive that relationship and the place it takes in thei life and the fear of readjusting to live without it... i love it so much and it’s such a big defining moment for both of them!!

Ah, yes, alll of that, gosh. EXACTLY. It's so good. Exactly what you said, especially about how they perceive it and its place in their lives and their fear of having to readjust to life without it and how that drives them and how emotional they are (and how emotionally they respond to each other, too, making it even more intense), and just. YES. Agreed!!!

YES OMG STEVE ESPECIALLY he’s so upset whenever tony doesn’t agree with him or ~disappoints him in some way lmao like dude why do you care do much abou what tony in particular think or does huh *eyes emoji*

YES I KNOW RIGHT. Steve is SO emotionally invested in what Tony's doing/going to do/decides generally, and whenever Tony ~disappoints him or whatnot he always throws such a fucking fit, or he sulk endlessly, or both, and it's like WOW, dude, wow, yeah. XD And that's super on display in Casualties of War--he's so focused on "why are you doing this, Tony" like WHY ARE YOU LETTING ME DOWN/DISAGREEING WITH ME, he's so upset by it, while Tony's more trying to actively persuade him/explain himself in a lot of ways.

YES which is why i love it so much... steve is just such an idealist and he can't fathom how tony could not agree with him and there's this layer underneath it all as though he's sure he's done something to make tony want to act like that and disappoint him and i just absolutely love the angst that stems from this... the difference between the way we think the people we love are, and how they actually are. i just fucking love it okay i swear i'm fine (i'm not)

Yes, God, exactly. He really is like "but I'm doing the RIGHT thing, Tony, so why . . . ." and right? There's an undercurrent of that during the Armor Wars and Kree Supreme Intelligence thing, too, that whole acting as if he's sure he's done something to make Tony want to act like that, but it really has its max expression in Civil War, I think, and just. God, right? I think Steve often like . . . sees Tony differently than he is (despite how much he does love him). And just. Yes. Yes!

YOUR GIFSETS AND EDITS ARE SO GOOD. I'm sure everyone knows you for Almeno, but those were my introduction to you. THEY'RE SO GOOD! You have such a fantastic knack of finding beautiful quotes and then finding moments that match them. *yells*

I know absolutely nothing about medieval manuscripts. What made you get into them? What's your favorite? What do you do to learn more about them? Go to museums? Follow certain people on Tumblr/Twitter/somewhere? :O

haha i'm glad they were popular with someone lol, they don't usually get many notes. almeno tu as well is way less popular than everyone who already knows it thinks it is :D

about the manuscripts: i've loved the middle ages since i was a teenager, but i got seriously into manuscripts at uni. basically, i got a degree in them lol. my favorite is the lindisfarne gospels, but it's a very obvious choice. it's gorgeous though, so i don't care. i want everyone to love it. i had the absolute pleasure of seeing it for real (it's at the british library) and i got so emo. i also have a very soft spot for the chi rho page from the book of kells--hugely famous, but it's the first manuscript i saw and it made me fall in love with them. also gorgeous: the codice trivulziano 1083, which contains dante's comedy with stunning illustrations. also the vaticano latino 3195, containing petrarca's canzoniere--so precise, tidy, so easy to read. to learn more about manuscripts you can definitely go to museums, but i also read a lot of books. there's a very active community of philologists and medievalists on twitter and i share their tweets very often. some of them are also on tumblr, and i reblog their stuff too, but tumblr right now is what it is lmao.
