Cap-Iron Man Newsletter and Fanworks Round-Up April 2021

Welcome to a new edition of the Cap-Iron Man Community Newsletter! We've reached the middle of 3490 Month but there's still plenty of time to take part, our Reverse Bang participants are hard at work behind the scenes, and there are plenty of fandom events to get involved with in the meantime — so have a look at what's coming this month.

This newsletter gives you an overview of what's been happening at [community profile] cap_ironman, which upcoming Steve/Tony events to look out for, and a round-up of all the wonderful things that our lovely Steve/Tony creators shared with us since the last newsletter.

  • We are halfway through our 3490 Month, where we've invited creators to post and share works themed to the universe of the month. Collaborations allowed! Multiple works encouraged! All worktypes welcome! This is part of our ongoing Cap-IM Universe Medley Fest. 3490 Month lasts until April 15, and then Earth's Mightiest Heroes Month will begin.

  • Comment Bingo (Round 5) is open - you can request a card here throughout the round.

  • The current STONY Bingo is open; you can request a card throughout the round, as well as request a second card after you reach a bingo!

  • Don't forget that as part of the Medley Fest event we're encouraging people to host universe-themed mini events of their own! However, you can always advertise or host your Stony and Steve & Tony events on [community profile] cap_ironman platforms — for more info check out our guidelines.

  • Have a read through of our Cap-IM events overview if you're new to the community or about to embark on your event-participation journey! You can also find our General Cap-IM Event Guidelines here.

Compass (MCU, 22473 words, E) by Annie D (scaramouche)
Less than a year ago Tony’s biggest problem with Steve was figuring out how they could coexist in the same team without throttling each other. Now Tony’s biggest problem with Steve is making sure that the guy doesn’t fall in love with him.

Immortality (616, 1958 words, T) by neverever
Steve's been through stuff. Now he has medical news he's nervous to share with Tony.

Not a Breakup (MCU, 33525 words, E) by Annie D (scaramouche)
Tony knew it was a bad idea to start sleeping with Steve. It could mess up team dynamics, make things even more awkward between them in the future, or just plain get in the way of their trying to save the world. Tony foresaw all of the above but not the advent of feelings, and at the most inopportune moment.

tear these old walls down (MCU, 57041 words, T) by susiecarter
Steve didn't like Tony Stark.

Stark probably didn't like Steve, either. They'd gotten off on the wrong foot, and that was putting it mildly.

And having to pretend to be a civilian Stark was dating, as cover for trying to save Stark's life while Iron Man was busy with a SHIELD mission, obviously wasn't going to help.

The Wait (MCU, 498 words, T) by alexcat
Steve waited his whole life for Tony. What was a few more years?

What Happened in the Barn (MCU, 413 words, E) by alexcat
Tony and Steve fool around in the barn. That's it, that's all there is.

These are all things that were posted to the Captain America/Iron Man Bingo Collection on AO3 and to the current Kink Meme round since the end of February. You can also add us on Tumblr or Twitter [community profile] cap_ironman to get your Bingo fill listed here.

'Cause Everytime We Touch (MCU, 5103 words, T) by Perlmutt
Steve noticed it the first time they were officially introduced at Fury’s office after the battle of New York.
He extended his hand for a handshake, a silent peace offer after their horrible first meeting at the helicarrier almost a week ago. Stark looked at it like it would bite him any second. Steve could see how his hands twitched where he’d buried them in his pockets. But instead of taking his hand, he stared into his eyes for a moment and nodded before turning back to Fury.
Only later would Steve learn that it wasn’t hatred or aversion.

Happy Scrubbing Time (Tsums, Art, G) by gottalovev

Meet the Parents (616, 3201 words, T) by jellybeanforest
In the comics, Dracula tells Tony that Howard tried to trade baby Tony to him in exchange for vampire immortality. Dracula turned him down, but what if he hadn’t? Basically, Dracula takes one look at those cute chubby cheeks, flushed with warmth and good cheer, and thinks: it couldn’t hurt to have an emergency food supply.

And then he ends up falling in love with fatherhood.

Tony grows up relatively well-adjusted, with a loving (if overprotective) father, leading to its own set of problems, particularly in his love life. After all, vanishingly few are up for the challenge of dating Dracula’s pride and joy.

Until Steve.

Or:

Tony takes his boyfriend home to meet his vampire dad.

No Matter How They Toss the Dice, It Had to Be (MCU, 21639 words, M) by jellybeanforest
Tony Stark is a desperately lonely child, ignored by his father and largely isolated from other kids due to his insular upbringing. When his family hires a new live-in housekeeper, she brings her young son, Steve Rogers, with her to live in the mansion. Though Steve misses their old neighborhood and his friends, the boy becomes Tony’s best friend, even if he’s not Steve’s. As they grow up together and experience the loss of their respective parents much too soon, Tony develops feelings for Steve. Unfortunately, the man is so painfully, so obviously straight that there’s no way anything can ever come of it.

Right?
