2024 Cap-Iron Man Exchange Gifts unveiled on December 28
It’s the fourth day of reveals! Each day we will be revealing gifts created by 2024 Cap-Iron Man Holiday Exchange and Community Gifts event participants. The gifts will remain anonymous until January 7, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the works and guess the identities of creators. (Remember, if you've got a work in the collection, please remain anonymous until after creator reveals!)
Here are today’s gifts!
★ Look out for you for potatupia (MCU, 1530 words)
It gets harder to breathe every day.
His chest hurts.
He despises the smell of freshly cut grass.
He cannot keep solid food down for more than a few minutes.
And his only company is the disembodied voice of his dead butler; his children—pieces of metal carved from a part of his own soul. They make him weep with their humanness and inability to really comfort him. And he wonders if it should be that easy to give up.
So much easier than giving up Steve.

An Iron Man 2 AU, where Tony breaks up with Steve to keep him safe from heartbreak and to no one's surprise, it backfires completely.

Accepting help from the man he once feared — and thought he hated — brings up more than just discomfort. It brings up feelings, bruised and battered and locked away in a tiny box in his heart, the key thrown in a sea of sorrow. And seeing Steve willingly dive into those turbulent waters to rescue the key knocks Tony off balance, makes him unsteady, as if his soul is being pulled from a place too raw, too dangerous to revisit.
Tony sighs and opens the door wider. “Come in, Cap.”

In 1989, Peggy and Steve's son finds an unopened letter hidden amongst his deceased father's belongings, addressed to the mysterious godfather he only met once, so many years ago. The contents are startling, though it does explain a lot.
