Newbie question
Hi!
I stumbled into the Iron Man fandom through the movie and into this LJ by accident. Been devouring stories ever since.
Now, as someone who read Spider-Man but ignored everything else oh-so many years ago (damn, getting old..), here's my probably stupid question:
How and when did Steve find out about who Iron Man is? And how did he react?
Thanks for the help.

Writer's really seem to like the reveal of Iron Man's secret identity to Steve.
One of them was almost a non-reaction because they were in battle with a shock surprise moment later on once the danger was passed.

I live to serve. Especially when it comes to the red thong. *g*
One of the other times that Steve "discovered" Tony's identity isn't exactly an outright discovery, but it's pretty clear that he's not buying Tony's excuses either. *g* The actual scene is from Iron Man #125 (1979), but there's also a flashback to it in Casualties of War, which is part of the Civil War storyline.
From 1979:
Sorry these two pages are in four pieces. I had to do screen captures, rather than exporting images, because I got these from the officially released Marvel DVD. I managed to clip them between panels, at least. :-)

From Civil War:
Unfortunately, I only have scans of two pages from the flashback with me at work, and neither of them includes the "I play a lot of tennis" line. *pouts* But here's what I have at hand.

Civil War still depresses the hell out of me. One reason why I never read it is that I know how it ends and I don't read deathfics in fandom, don't watch shows where my favorite character dies and avoid comic story lines with the same theme. The whole concept makes me want to hug my pillow and drown myself in chocolate.
On to the happy fic!

You're welcome! I do love that sequence, in all it's apperances.
Civil War still depresses the hell out of me.
I sympathize completely. I wouldn't have read it myself, except I got an AU idea and needed the background. Then, of course, the AU idea died on me. *rolls eyes at self*
Anyway, yes, stay far away! Wallow in New Avengers 1-20, and the other back canon, and wait for Marvel to fix itself. *g*

Captain America reacted with surprise. Don and Tony weren't surprised; it had been established in an earlier issue that they already knew each other's secret identity. The Silver Surfer was only concerned with the imminent destruction of the Earth.
