Hi all! Apologies for late newsletter, Livejournal fell over for a few hours.

Keep up the good work with not spoiling people for the movie - I still haven't seen it! But initial reactions seem to be positive and it opened strongly, equal to or slightly better than Thor did. We're also getting news about the Avengers, shooting now, including a gorgeous poster with all the movie Avengers on! Tony is as expected, but Steve has a new costume for the modern era, and I like it a lot. What do you guys think? And there's a new Kink Meme at captain_america_kink!

Cap's movie costume

Steve has a new costume for the modern era, and I like it a lot. What do you guys think?

To me, it looks a little unnatural. Something about the gloss makes it look like an action figure or a video game image. It doesn't look to me like leather, or Kevlar, or whatever an actual uniform would be made of. It ends up in uncanny valley territory, which is not a good place to go.

(I also reaaaally don't like the pouches, but that's minor in comparison.)

ETA: Whoops, never mind. I thought the image was a production still with a photoshopped background. However, I found a larger image, and it now looks to me like it's a painting, not a photograph. Cap's figure still looks a doll action figure, but I'll chalk that up to a defect in the painting, not the costume.

Yeah, pretty sure it's not a photograph, so I imagine the textures will work better in the actual costumes.

I'm a bit puzzled by all the zips in the trousers, as well - I guess even Cap needs somewhere to keep his keys and phone and debit card and a comb, he gets cowl hair and all... maybe some gum, and a few energy bars.

I'm betting the zippers were put in there for Tony. Not quite as convenient as the fly would be, but squirming tight leather pants down is probably difficult in a hurry.

I'm just :( that the wings don't seem to pop out. It's nice that we have them, but... D: Siiiigh.

I have a scene and an epilogue to do. (breathe in, breathe out) And then ALL THE EDITING because I stopped doing coding half way through, and my tags aren't at all right and should it be 5.357 minutes or 3.573 and and and...

I thought this weekend I'd write the big action climax of my Big Bang, and instead I wrote a chapter of exposition setting up the big action climax. Arrrgh!

On the bright side, I do have 25K words, with a chapter and possibly an epilogue still to go.

.... I've barely touched my bang. Since I started with a NaNo draft, the thing's a mess and horribly, horribly incomplete. Now that my other two bang stories are done, I'm out of excuses. (Wait! I still a fanmix to make! Oh... wait. It's half-done. *sigh*)

I have most of a sex scene to write (those are really difficult for me to get through), the entire ending, and a lot of in-between scenes. Oh, and I have to actually write about the secondary characters that got mentioned ten thousand times. And rewrite a fight scene. And add some angst scenes. And and and and...

Gah.

My rough draft will have a LOT of "AND THEN TONY ANGSTED SOME MORE" notes, methinks.

There are entire fics written like that. I'm pretty sure it sums up Iron Man in the 80s, too. So it will be fine, I'm positive.
