To me it seems as if Cap is feeling a little uncomfortable there, judging by the look upon his face



I just knew Tony had Stark Enterprises or something on his swim suit
(btw, the next page features Strange surrounded by Tony´s absent "usual bery of female companions"...)
but the frog-lizard thing still loves him^^



It´s good to be the ki-Tony Stark!
(There´s another page of him in one volume, but it features a dreadful mullet and a not very good looking Tony, so I didn´t post it)



What is more amusing? That Thor&Hercules&She-Hulk play that game against 6 normal humans(except IM)?
That Tigra´s bathing suit covers a lot more skin than her usual costume?
Cap and the others in masks and swim suits?
Or Ironman wearing trunks over his armor?

The second ne... the swim trunk slook ridiculous, and a bit unnatural. Looks like they were hammered out of metal. Gah. And no comment about the woman. Nope.

Tony... I never picture dhim this... buff. BUt hey, nice trunks! ;)

As for the rope-pulling contest... I think Marvel believes fans would be too stupid to tell the difference between some of the guys if they didn't put them at least partially in their costume. Tony probably forgot his swim trunks or Pepper packed him his long underwear out of spite for something he did/didn't do/forgot/said :P He borrowed someone else's trunks(Hulk's????) and wears them over the armor because they kept sliding down :P

Apparently Marvel draws him like that sometimes. I don´t think that he´s looking like that either, but it´s a swimsuit edition and all men look quite buff there (except Ghost Rider in one pic^^ - posted at scans_daily^^)

Oh god... Marvel Swimsuit Editions. Painful yet awesome in a painful way x) I think my favorite thing is the reptile clinging to Tony for no apparently reason. I like the idea that someone looked at the sketch, probably, and though "you know what this is missing? a lizard loving on Tony Stark... make it happen!"

I wish the first Steve had a different head. It's a little bit "young Billy Bob Thorton in a freaky lemon yellow wig and black eyebrows"... But I can just scroll down and hide his head!

He's probably just grateful it is a lizard and not the Sentient Armor ;) Though I'm sure that was later... Still it would have made for an interesting picture. Especially if it was wearing a corporate logo bikini and the pose was like that Cap & Diamondback one.... HMM.

OMG these are just sooo awesome! Thanks for posting these! Yeah, I think in no.3 his pecs go too low on his body... Also, what a super dramatic background LOL Going to ancient South American (?) ruins in his SE trunks... I don't really like the two Cap ones aesthetically.. I gotta agree with the other critiques on those, but they're all all great on the entertainment/amusement scale.

The Marvel swimsuit editions are a magical thing of utter crack, even if they do suffer from bad 90s art in a lot of places. One of the swim suit issues featured Frank Castle in a skull-shaped thong. No, really. Also "naked" Ghostrider laying in the surf in a pin-up pose with a half-melted bottle on sunblock next to him, surronded by a cloud of steam.

Tony is way over-muscled in both pictures, alas, but that's parr for the course for the 90s (he's also lacking the shrapnel-scarring he really ought by all logic to have, but they almost always leave that out), but it's the cocktail in his hand in the second one that really makes me go WTF. Well, that and Steve's horrid hair in the first picture.

(best scans_daily comment I saw on the Steve & Diamondback picture: "Get a better beard, Cap. This one's tacky.")

I still hold that the fact that there are marvel swimsuit additions - and that the men are totally included in them - is proof that someone out there is watching out for us gay nerds in some small way...

#1: I like the composition, coloring/shading style, and Steve's coy "put down the camera and come oil me up" look. But while part of my brain wants to object to the weird hair and eyebrows and the other things wrong with it... the overwhelming majority of my brain is yelling "GET THAT ARSE" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UahdsVm0GU) in Stephen Fry's voice. Seriously. Look at it. It's a thing of beauty.

#2: Woman: ~My god... is he seriously wearing a square cup?~
Cap: ~Awk-waaaaaard...~

#3: While I was kind of hoping there'd be one of Tony in the same style as the first, it's more than made up for by the fact that he's being snuggled by a besotted lizard.

#4: Tony looks asian. He's apparently surrounded by elfin crossdressers.

#5: I'm 99% sure Tony's cunning plan was to make the opposing team giggle so hard they drop the rope.

Yes. What makes it even better is that there were at least two issues worth of it from two different years.

There was some thinly contrieved plot reason for everyone in the Marvel U to be at a tropical resort in simwear in the first issue. I think the second didn't even bother.

Part of me mourns that DC never had the sense of humor to do a blatant Sport-Illustrated-Swimsuit-Issue-style cheesecake issue of their own. Can you imagine the awesome?

Like, I can definitely see the Teen Titans (and even most of the Outsiders) being all 'eh' about wearing swimsuits and masks, but half the JLA would be all "..." - and now I'm imagining Nightwing and Robin browbeating Batman into going down to the beach with them in his mask and swimsuit, ahaha.
