Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 28 August 2011
(Late > never? I have so many tabs open right now I opened a couple new windows and started organising them by themes like "Fic I am horribly late commenting on" and "wow, I committed to reading this article two weeks ago.") ANYWAY! Hello and welcome to the weekly
cap_ironman/
cap_ironman newsletter.
Weekly Rules Reminder: Spamming Policy. To sum up, so the comm doesn't get drowned in post from the same user, we ask that members either space out posts of the same kind of content (like short fics or batches of icons) by at least two days or combine like posts into one. We realise this isn't always possible (for example super long chapters that just don't fit into one LJ post), but please try to combine things to minimise individual posts so that other users don't get pushed off the page.
There'd been quite a bit of film updates this week. Avengers was filming in Cleavland and there was a big showing at Disney Expo, with lots of interviews. Perhaps a comm member in a greater state of organisation could post a round up of links to all that? Has anyone seen a good recap of the new trailer material? I feel like I ought to be more on top of this, but all I got is a shiny new team poster.
On the Captain America side of things, we have a DVD release date for the first film (25 October 2011), along with special feature information and such. Who else thinks it sucks that all the extras are only on BlueRay? In Cap II news, Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus are talking about elements (some WWII vs all present day) and characters (Sharon and Sam) they'd like to include.
Marvel Solicits are out for November. Looks like more of the usual suspects. I've got to say it's nice to see Steve back in the flag and all over the place. Anyone reading the new Brubaker books? I haven't picked them up. How are they?
I have not been at Canada's Fan Expo (wrong side of the country for me), but Matt Fraction has. Here he is talking about the fall out from Fear Itself and Marvel's direction next year. There has also been some speculation that Marvel will do a company-wide relaunch similar to the DCnU. Nothing on that from the top though.

grey_bard has put together a Steve/Tony fannish guide for Avengers and Captain America, which you should totally check out no matter if you've read the comics or not. Fantastic resource.
Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and fifty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try
cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me,
garrideb and
valtyr.
And feel free to post on-topic or off-topic stuff in the comments to this post! Just keep it reasonably safe for work, please.
