Tony: "Must. Save. Steve"

Hiya folks!

Was wondering about something the other day (for a fic I'm making abd because wondering makes me stop thinking about the, ya know, Civil War)...

I read in a couple of fics and stuff saying Tony often sacrifices himself to save Steve. The one comic canon incident I remember is when

electrocuted himself to stop his armour from crushing Cap.

It's really one of the most defining characteristics I can think of Tony, that he both thinks so high of Steve and so little of himself that the idea of sacrificing himself for Steve is no big deal.

Was wondering if there was any other such times for Tony? And any thoughts? :-)

There's a much lesser known similar scene in New Avengers #18 that I didn't mention before because it's Tony saving all the Avengers, not Steve specifically. But it sticks out in my mind anyway because the Avengers are facing an immensely powerful being and Tony sends them away so they won't get hurt and takes it on all by himself. O.o I mean, if he was sending away civilians, or young or low powered heroes, I would get it. But he sends away the rest of the Avengers!

The dialogue:

Iron Man: "Avengers, change of plans! All of you get out of here."

Cap: "And what are you going to do, Iron Man?"

Iron Man: "I don't exactly know, Cap. We've never faced anything as indefinable as this before. But I'd rather you guys were around to tell people nice stories about me after I'm gone than, you know, not."
