CHEADLE?!?!?!?

No offense to Don Cheadle, but he doesn't exactly have a similar vibe to Terrence Howard. At all.

Who thought *that* was a good recasting choice?

[identity profile] grey-bard.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and if the "new direction" for the part is "Wacky Sidekick", somebody's aiming for death by spork. Just saying.

Dang. But it'll be interesting to see what DC does.

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean, and it's hard to imagine him in the part, but I'll give it a chance.

Upon reflection, since the only source for this is The Hollywood Reporter, which is frankly no Variety, I'm going to put this in the "Unsubstantiated Rumor" pile until I hear from someone from Marvel.

[identity profile] chrisbarajas.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
G4 reported it as well. Sounds like it's true, dang it.

[identity profile] mechanicaljewel.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but did they just repeat the HR article? Spreading a rumor doesn't make it anymore true. I'm holding out for Marvel to make an official statement.

FUCK YOU HOLLYWEIRD POLITICS

That kind of sucks for Howard. He did the first, extremely underwritten for Rhodey, film mostly on the promise that he'd have a bigger part later on.

And man, Marvel is really being miserly with the second movie, aren't they? They tried to cheap Jon Favreau, too.

[identity profile] mechanicaljewel.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, I actually can't blame Marvel. They're technically an independent film company with a very limited slate of films they need to make profit on. They're not like a big studio that makes 20-30 films a year and makes the money for all of them back with 3-5 of them. They have, at most, two films out a year. They turned a huge profit with Iron Man, yes, but very little for the Incredible Hulk, and they've still got to be able to finance Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America, The Avengers and (I believe) Runaways.

W-WTF?

I hope to God this isn't true. I mean, no offense to Cheadle or anything....but that would be difficult for me to get over. Probably just a rumor, but GOD, the idea of it....*.*

There's nothing wrong with Don Cheadle

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
But Terrence Howard was a great Rhodey, though. I wonder what happened?

Money issues

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Yeah, I can see Howard being a bit difficult in terms of that. He takes his 'artistry' and self worth seriously. He also wasn't amused with the time he got in the movie... but why leave a big popcorn movie? Is he crazy?! Granted, he made a good Rhodes, and I don't mind Cheadle... but we will see.

[identity profile] thironmaden.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The more I think about it the more depressed I get...

I got nothing against Cheadle, but Terrence Howard was the one to make me love Rhodey and get interested in his character, not Cheadle! And now I can't imagine anyone else in that role... :(

[identity profile] thironmaden.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I would REFUSE to watch to watch it if RDJ wasn't playing Tony Stark.

HE IS TONY STARK!! JUST LIKE TH IS RHODEY!!

[identity profile] kesomon.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
This...gives me mixed feelings. o.o Do I like canonocity better, or is Don Cheadle's win-factor more powerful?
